Game is still plenty difficult for me, even at Pebble. Sounds boringly easy for some of you. 🤔 You had a Top-10 2 weeks ago and a bogey-free 12-under in round 1 at Pebble. I will be holding a special candlelit vigil tonight in your honour. Thoughts are with you during this tough stretch.

To each there own, some are willing to sacrifice a challenge for simplied scoring. So why ruin it for everyone? I like Pebble. After all when players complain about a difficult course the response is usually you don’t have to play it.

Call me crazy, but if PGA is on the door here and we have the iconic Pebble Beach available we should use it. On the topic of "Replicating" the irl tours around here... I'm no geologist (zing) but I don't think Pebble qualifies for the "European" tour...

A little bit of everything this week.
A slow start in r1 (-1 thru 2), my putting came to life and finished -15
R2 I suffered from several slow downswings on approach. Discovered I wasn’t using USB so that didn’t help matters. 78% fairways and finished -12.
After a break, came back to play R3 and had 64% of fairways. Just all over the map with the swing and the wind didn’t help. -7. Pretty terrible.
Came back and put on a clinic in R4. Narrowly missed breaking -20 again (bad shot on 9, another slow on 16, and a bunker shot that stayed out on 18 for eagle). Shot -18.
-52. :/

Just chiming in here... I have been thinking about redoing pebble and giving it a US Open feel. Not sure if TGC Tours will use it or not. More or less doing it for my own love of the course. Well probably be starting on it after I finish Firestone.
With that being said, It would be interesting to know, what makes a course difficult for you top players?

Try out Adam Hill International, but be prepared for death threats and eternal hatred for doing it 😂

I think the biggest difference in elite players vs. the rest is our proximity to the hole and our ability to putt. I think firmer and faster will make that a little more challenging?

Most of the difficulty with courses in this game in my opinion doesn't necessarily come from wind...it comes from length of approach shot... But mainly; it comes with tough tucked hole locations. Pins cut anywhere near the center of the green and even from 200 yards out, I think most in here are annoyed with par. A tight hole location can make an easy hole play somewhat difficult which I really enjoy. I'd love to see... Designers re-publish a "us open version" of their courses. Tuck those pins! Also, the 3 box rule from fringes/yellow beads...I can understand it...but I say toss it and change it to a 2 box rule. Don't see that happening though.

A U.S. Open venue! It's almost like they should go together every ten years at Pebble. Sad if they don't use it on the main tours. I would get in touch with someone on the TST Tour as they would probably use it as they aren't as afraid to use RCRs.

Not played in the tournament yet but saw that R1 has high winds so thought I'd have a practice cos I always struggle in such conditions. Has to be something I'm missing when calculating shots to the green because there's no way I'm making the cut with the scores I've been shooting. I think I can play a bit, finished 2nd the other week but looking at some of the scores already in I'm going to need a miracle just to make it past Thursday. Strong winds never seem to have a consistent effect and for what ever reason grab more when blowing left to right. Off now to see if I can crack this magic wind formula and get anywhere near what's required..

Everything is amplified in a cross wind. A side hill lie with tbe wind or a slightly off center swing will be amplified. A pure swing is crucial or one cutting into wind can help get consistent. I was off this week.

Couldn't play yesterday (out taking my little man to his grandparents for the day).....
Couldn't play today either........unfortunately for a different reason - that being my lack of ability in hitting good shots (or more specifically putts)
Oh - and I detest that bloody 12th hole (a matching pair of stunning bogeys)
-9 -12
-21 for a MC
(Finished up -41, not that it matters)

I haven't played well in a Tour round in what seems like a month. Get something figured out then something else seems to go. -10 first round. To many putts just off the hole, two many approaches just not accurate enough. I'm thinking about using some serious drugs. If my scores really improve in the next couple of days we can all assume they were good drugs.
