One round in. Wanted to play two, but am expecting a call and ran out of time. Started well, then tried to be cute on the 5th hole and went down the cliff to the beach below. First flop bounded of the hill and back down near to where I started. Thought I might be looking at a DNF or a max hole for being an idiot and going there in the first place, but I got up and down with the 2nd flop attempt for bogey.
The gap in yardages in my bag bit me a couple of times as well (194 to 213) and then being a doof and not laying up on the 11th with a wood, but happy with the start to the week. Made a nice putt on the 9th and chipped in on #17.

I also got stuck down the cliff on the 5th hole but in RD1. I wasn't so lucky and carded a triple. Pretty much mailed it in after that for one of my worst performances of the year. Game has been tough for me lately. Thinking about taking a break. Constantly seeing streams of people hitting their putt lines almost perfectly straight every single time is discouraging. I've tried many things but I cannot replicate the consistency. It's not for lack of effort or practice mind you... I've been at it a good while. I feel I'm losing out on a good 4-5 shots per round every tournament because I'm missing so many easy putts that most would make. Whatever, it is what it is. I'll figure it out eventually. Hopefully the joy of the game can come back to me soon because right now it's rough.

I don't know how true this is or if it's just chance.. but I had a period where I was pushing putts supposedly starting my downswing out of the cone. I now sit at an angle to the tv and it seems to have made a difference. Seems stupid, but at least when I miss a putt I know it was me

It's something else. When the game first launched I was killing it. This past month has been tough. Probably just me though.

Then all of a sudden bam out of the cone. Just one of those things I guess

I never hit a putt that WASN'T a straight line until this latest patch. I've simply given up and decided to hit them closer. However, the rage consumes me on missed 4-footers! 😭😭

Seems stupid, but at least when I miss a putt I know it was me Same for me - my default putt, the same way I move the stick for my other shots, goes right on the backswing and immediately misses the cone at the start of the downswing before returning to centre. I have to consciously change the backswing on my putts more to 7pm to compensate. It makes no sense to me but that's what video games are all about, you adapt to the reality of the game's quirky universe, not what you think the reality should be. Same phenomenon with wind, backswing & downswing tempos, spin, green conditions, putting pace, bunker percentages etc., lots of people on the forum say x or y feels or looks 'wrong' or whatever compared to their intuitive expectations about IRL golf. But this is a video game, you need to identify the weirdness patterns and use that knowledge to compensate for the weirdness and ultimately perform better, otherwise you'll just be left frustrated all the time.

Yep, 2nd missed cut in a row. Maybe had a chance at -21 but no. Had a god damn very slow downswing and put my out on the mother @!$#ing beach down the cliff. Damn flop comes up short on the light rough. End up getting bogey. Game can kiss my white ass! Piss off game! That @!$#ing cat isn't using a @!$#ing approved dualshock controller? You @!$#ing kidding me?!?! Dualshock 3 for the mother @!$#ing PS3! @!$# you!

2nd round was a bit poorer than my first. I was playing a bit too much Chad Thundercock style and high-sided three makeable putts along the way.
Edit: Too stubborn to switch out clubs, but the par 3's are not ideal for my bag as a lofted 7W with a deliberate slow backswing is too finicky to pull off.

I said in another thread I hated playing this course on the tour events because it takes a birdie machine to make a cut.
I was going to skip it entirely. But figured I’d man up and give it a go. First time ever in a 1st rd event of TGCT at Pebble I actually didn’t do bad. I shot -13 and that was with 2 missed putts inside 8 ft. I just can’t hit a putt straight anymore.
So I figured I was destined for good things in the light wind 2nd round. There I go thinking again. 1st hole went fine. Birdie. 2nd tee shot was a VF downswing. And just about every wood, iron and wedge shot from there was fast downswings. I even switched to my other DS4 controller mid round. So I started aiming short and right in everything and was able to get a couple close. Shot a -9.
Figuring -22 was getting cut. I quit. Didn’t check the leaderboard until today. Crap! Looks like I need to play 2 more rounds. I’m saying if everything still keeps registering fast on the downswing my controllers going to be in pieces.
Going to have to wait and play early Saturday morning. I tend to not have the “fasties” get me as much in the mornings. Will have to skip the coffee though or my swings will look like zippers.

I had four very inconsistent rounds this week, some good stuff, some bad. Really struggled with hitting it straight at times, felt as though I was signing my name with some of the swings that I made. Also, I missed plenty of short putts due to diagonal swings. -56 total, happy with that considering I didn't have my best this week. The course is a superb recreation of Pebble, always fun to play; but when it's this soft you really need to be hitting it a bit straighter than I did to compete for the win. Good luck all

First missed cut of the season for me. At least I tried. Couldn’t have come at a better time. Needed to shoot -15 but only got to -13. Had plenty of opportunities though. Oh well.
