Easily I’d estimate 400-500 hours I have into Oakland Hills over the span of 13 months. Starting from a totally flat plot it takes ages to hand sculpt every square foot of land plus manually plant/rotate/downsize each individual tree.

Right around 30. I probably need 40-50, as on most courses I have published I find something I forgot to fix or finish.
But like Reeb, that's me just squeezing whatever spare time I can find into the designer after the kids go to bed, or on lunch breaks when no one is home, or after I told my wife I'd come up to bed in about 5 minutes.
I did an RCR of my home course in TGC1 and I probably put a good 70 or 80 hours into that one.

That is dedication Royce. Measuring it all out ate up a huge chunk of that time because I’m rather tedious plus I get interrupted with work issues often enough where I lose track, I’ve caught mistakes and had to redo holes before and also for OH I originally used brushed for fw/greens then had to redo them in splines which added much time.

Though I can only offer valid input for TGC1 and TGC2 courses... over 100 hours for me. Most of that is spent placing houses spinning the camera to look at the course from different views, but that’s just me.

I know it doesn't look like it, but around 70-90hrs per course. If I actually filled up a plant meter it would be easily over 100

Stopped paying attention to how long it takes.
Also stopped entering contests. I get a better course that way because i'm not fighting a deadline or concerning myself with a competition. Now I just dial up the designer when I feel like, dabble a bit and when i think the course is done, then it's done.

I’m no good in contests and looking at the plays and threads for WC I should have saved the 100 hours and slept.

Super impressed by some of the comments regarding time to complete, considering the work some of you have published. I would guess around 100 to complete. Obviously, spare time like everyone else, but I can put in some marathon sessions when time allows.

I have published two courses since Black Friday when I got the game. I had published two previously on TGC Collector's Edition. I feel like I may have rushed these first ones, and I will be taking more time extensively play testing them before publishing. I look forward to publishing my next project! It is a fictional course on the legendary volcano, Mt. Vesuvius. This one is going to take quite some time for final release, but I will have 9 holes available for early feedback within a couple weeks. Elevation changes are going to be ridiculous on this layout, so sculpting appropriate landing areas may take some time. The 17th hole is a gut check par 3 on the rim of the crater and the 18th hole is an 850 yard par 6, that drops over 500 feet from tee to green. Thankfully, I have learned a few new tricks for terrain editing....should be lots of fun!

That is dedication Royce. LOL, this is why I have not yet attempted an RCR. I've only had this game since November, and I've never started one of my courses from a completely flat landscape. You would pretty much have to do that and build from scratch when copying another course. Man, you got more free time than I, LOL
