Well, I was as bad as I figured I'd be in round 1. Double bogey 6 at 16 cost me. I had a funky lie and did not hit my chip hard enough and back it came so the next shot I hit 20 feet past and missed the putt. Finished with a sterling -3 for round 1. I got a lot of off tempo swings, but it may have just been my lousy swing. I had a lot of fast swings that I never get. It was weird in round one for me also

I have now played two practice rounds at Thistle Dell... Oh boy, this is going to be painful for me; this course does not seem to like me! ๐๐๐

I have now played two practice rounds at Thistle Dell... Oh boy, this is going to be painful for me; this course does not seem to like me! ๐๐๐ You were my GHOST in my 2nd practice round. Yea - you had a few issues but only a couple shots that went short that screwed you. I was -1 with PRO clubs with the #1 pins and switched to MASTER clubs (Using Fizzbin as my alternate ego) with pin #2 and had -5. Course is certainly made for MASTER clubs. I REALLY yanked one on a par 3 with a SUPER FAST downswing still birdied WHEW 172 green speed is the hardest I believe. Lots of break and very delicate. Faster greens are more luck. I created an alter ego that ONLY uses MASTER clubs so I can see what my handicap is with ONLY Master. I'm about 5 better with PRO. I'm sitting in 140th in this weeks tour. That 10 is killing me. 6 birdies and a 10 in round 2 LOL

Well I switched to master clubs for the 3rd round and had less tempo problems than I did with pro clubs.
The story of this round was my ice cold putter. I missed 7 putts inside of 8 feet (3 inside of 5 feet). It was a 'could have been' round. From tee to green I was pretty good. Alongside my putter issues was a few chips that I hit 10 feet by the hole. I should have practiced a little instead of just jumping to the first tee.
A couple of bogies mixed in with 4 birdies for -2. This course, I feel like was designed for master clubs.
Sorry, I have been around much. I have been busy at work and now with my Dirtbag league. Good luck.

Iโm surprised how many people have not completed this week. So many with only 1 round in on a Saturday

I played with master clubs again in the 4th round and again my tempo was very good. A few slows and a few fasts but really played well from tee to green. I could not make a putt inside of 10'. I got it to -4 through 15 and proceeded to bogey 16, 17 and 18. I finished at -1 again for my second under par round with the new clubs. A -6 finish for the week and I will lose a green mark. GOODBYE Scarlet Inn, I will never come back grinder12000 Rod, it could be the course as it is a real 'grinder'.

Well, I played a practice round at Thistle Dell. Just used whatever conditions was standard. My third straight round under par with master clubs. I made 8 straight pars due to my faulty putter, birdied 9, bogied 10 and played a decent back nine. Final score -2. 4 birdies and 2 bogies. The winds were double digits the whole round. I got away with one very slow swing.
Anyone play a round here yet? Just curious if I should be proud or disgusted at my -2.

It really is a course made for Masters clubs; par 5s unreachable with pro but one. In between clubs with all of the longer approach shots. Unfortunately, I am useless with Masters and have decided to use pro anyway.

Iโve played two rounds 1st with Pro Clubs -7 2nd with Masters -2 more to do with proximity to the hole than missing fairways. I believe a couple of the par 5s are not even reachable with Masters so not worth the effort.

Rounds of -6, -5 on Pin 1, and -10 on Pin 2. I play all my CC Rounds with Pro clubs but I'm going to play this Promo Event with the masters just in case I catch fire. If I don't move up with the masters I'll just keep chipping away with the pro clubs to work my way up.

Last week I hit a 58 with the masters thatโs the best round I have ever played with any of the club sets. I played the next round with the same club set and could only manage level par, if you look at the stats for the comp the difference between the two rounds were GIR I either missed greens totally or left a long putt because of having temp issues with the irons. Every line was still straight but the fastโs caused me to pull the ball left and long or a slow hit the ball right and long. Just no consistency in strike so from now on until hopefully they release a new game itโs pro clubs for me.

I've played it many times with Master clubs and have shot between -5 and Evens. I've never played it with Pro clubs so I don't know the difference, this will be my first step to go Masters full time.

I am certainly not one to give advice because we each have to do what is fun and challenging.
The only thing I have done differently to get a smooth tempo is to watch my golfer at the top of the backswing and be smooth on the downswing. I have had relatively good tempo the last 3 rounds with masters. I take it to the top 2 times to get rhythm and then swing on the third. If I could have made some putts, I would have scored at least 8-10 strokes better.
For better or worse, I am not going back to the pro clubs. I think I just enjoy the masters better. With that said, do what you have the most fun with.

Howโs this for messing up your start to a promo event and then fighting back on the last six holes... ๐

Sounds like you have your tempo decent already; but like I think you've seen me say before, the putting can be VERY frustrating! The cone is so much smaller. Like you said tho (for some!) It's that added challenge, it feeling more "real" (for want of a better word) that becomes so addictive... Took me a few weeks to get consistent. I know you're a very good player, so I look forward to seeing your progress...
