Had a really bad tourney this week nothing clicked at all again. I seem to be getting worse with my tempo which is having a huge effect on my scoring. See you all next week and many more weeks after that. Play well everyone

Twostentden we finished within one shot of each other. look forward to competing with you in the weeks to come!
I encourage everyone to put their TGCT name in the box to the left, in your profile. Its neat to talk to you here, but then look on the leaderboard and know who is talking.

We should have a knock outside of comp. Hopefully play a little more relaxed and soak things up a bit. In the tours it can get really intense even though I try to relax the comp side of things kicks in and then BOOM I go to crap......or should I say crapper (if there is such a word)

I have a question. Like everyone else here, I use Pro clubs (some use Masters).
I played four practice rounds before this week's event. I didn't shoot great like some are shooting 10-20 under, but I shot at or just below par per practice rounds.
However, playing in the tournament the clubs are the same of course, but they seem to be much more touchy. Is this a setting used in the tournament setup?
I mean, this is the lowest rung of the CC. Should I go back to beginner clubs and drop out of CC-Z? I fail to see how I'll ever shoot below par here using an Xbox controller. Hell, I would be happy with par.
Suggestions?

To be honest ive lost a lot of the good i was doing and cant put my finger on why! I was shooting around level with masters then dropped to pros for the start of the season. I played well the first week but since then i just cannot get my temp right. Not even close. Loosing my temper too much because of it and essentially throwing the towel in. I just think it is a massively difficult game. Very rewarding though when you do play well.

So why are we seeing scores that are 30 to 50 under par at the end of the tournament? Is it because there is a cross-platform aspect to this game? Do PC players or players using other platforms have an advantage? like I mentioned in my post, I don't expect to win every week I don't expect to win at all to be honest. I just want to be able to compete and maybe score under par once in awhile on a round. I can do that when I practice a course using pro clubs. But when it comes to tournament time, the wheels fall off because the club seem to be reacting differently.

I am with you friend. I just want to do the same- compete, and hope to score somewhere between -5 and +5, I'd be happy. It has bothered me since day one to see people, even in the lowest bracket, shooting 10 under par, and complaining about how bad they did. My hope is that six months from now the promo/demo system will sort it out.
As magpie27 said, this is a massively difficult game, especially for amateurs and beginners. I started here back in April, and I STILL am just a middle of the pack Z player. I used Pro's in TGC2, and switched to master only in TGC19 simply because I won't learn them if I don't play them.
As for the clubs reacting differently during tournaments, for me, its all mental. Basically this- I can play 4 practice rounds, and do great, but then once I play the round that counts, even though everything is the same, it feels harder, because all of the sudden, I'm subconsciously pressuring myself that I have to make this shot, because it counts.... and I miss hit it every time. Perhaps that may be what is happening to you. It happens to me a lot, and took me a while to figure it out.
Now, on to my ranting commentary for this week.
I was so confused! I thought I was playing Eli's tournament, at Ute Forrest, that just the date was wrong, but apparently the date is correct on that one, and I'm playing in the Marsh!!
Course is beautiful, but what is it with designers thinking its cool to put the pins in the middle of these extreme breaks, or on the middle of a ridge? For me this course seems feast or famine. Either I get lucky and hit the hole, and get the birdie, or I miss it by a few inches and it rolls far enough away to have 2-3 more tries. Its so frustrating to actually make a halfway decent putt, and end up further away, or barely tap the ball and then watch it roll fifteen feet.
Is it my imagination that we get the harder courses? Second week in a row now, I've played the pro course better than ours. Today, I actually shot 12 strokes better on Pacific Pines than I did in the Marsh.
shakes head wearily.
EDIT: Oh, forgot to mention that I was actually doing "OK", until the 18th hole. hit the marshland water TWICE on that hole for a quadruple. Still would've done 8 better on Pacific though- at least the R1 pin placements made it way easier. We'll see what 2,3 and 4 bring.

Thank you for your reply. I just finished round number three after work this afternoon and took on board some of your advice. I still shot over par today but I am progressively getting better. Whoever reads this I want them to understand that I'm not complaining I am just trying to understand if I belong in this league right now or not. I enjoy the challenge and as I mentioned earlier I don't expect to win. I simply want to compete I am learning a lot about the game and the nuances of putting as well as club selection in the wind. Just like in my real life golf game, I guess I just need to keep practicing. Best of luck to everyone in our league.

Just dropped in to agree with the comment regarding cup placement on major slopes. This is one of the biggest reasons that I don't score much better than I currently do. More times than not, my drives and fairways shots are pretty good, and I'm getting better at landing closer to the pin. But far too often, even on a 5 foot put, there is still MAJOR break between the ball and the cup! I'll aim quite a bit up slope, give the ball a small tap, watch it swing past either side of the cup and roll 2-3 times further away than I just started! This type of thing appears to defy real world physics honestly.

I skipped this last week and ready to get back into it tonight. I agree with others here on a lot of issues. - practice rounds end up at par or just over (gives me confidence going into the tourney but when I get that first bogie I sort of get anxious and it affects my game resulting in +9-12 average round. Sometimes I calm down and have better rounds 2 and 3 only to fall apart in 4. Its not the game, it is me and the pressure I put on myself to stay competitive so once I solve that issue I am back in the middle of the pack - Trying to keep tabs on those that finish around me thru out the season and would like to start a society "The Z Club" for the hackers in the middle or lower ranks of the CC-Z tour. There is nothing wrong with us but our lack of tempo and thumb dexterity . I do find the Twitch Show kind of talks down about the cc am tour but then again they are the thumb jocks we all strive to be.
By the way My Xbox Gamer Tag is GivingMender17 and would love to hook up in a Society or some game modes with other CC-Z players.
Update from last post - Well after skipping the last tourney and playing a practice round I finally started my first round in cc-z this morning. Got an 8 on the first after hitting into the water - talk about first tee jitters wow this is too real. Calmed down and sitting at +4 with 2 holes to go (not bad for me). Could have quit but got that thought out of my head as soon as possible - golf is a game where you need to realize your last shot is in the past, focus on the next shot and learn from mistakes. In a lot of ways this is very real compared to golf, jitters, funks, bad shots, great shots, surprising bounces ect... Going to finish up tonight and have a beer on the 19th.

Thought I'd add my 2 cents as well. I agree with many - this game has become progressively more and more difficult with each iteration, to the point where it is now plainly being geared primarily towards the elite uber-golfers, and not the "casual" golfers. In TGC1, I was in Web.com, then when TGC2 came out, and they introduced tempo into the swing, I took a long while to adjust to that, and by the time I got the hang of it it was really too late to get into the TGCTours, so I opted out and played only for fun. Then when TGC2019 came out, I realized they had pretty much hit the mouse with the nerf stick so hard that the mouse is almost worthless (I played with mouse only for TGC1 and TGC2). I sucked it up, bought a controller, and began the long, hard learning curve of trying to figure out the brand new swing mechanics of the TGC2019 Master Clubs, as well as learning how to play the game with a controller after only playing with a mouse for years. Then realized how insanely hard they were compared to TGC2, and dropped down to Pro Clubs - still difficult, but manageable; at least I only want to throw the controller thru the window twice a day instead of 10 times a day. Now I shot a rather lucky 1st round on the current tournament, and am currently #1 at -11, but believe me that was a fluke. I usually am in the -1 to -5 range on most rounds. Expect to see me drop precipitously in the standings as the next 3 rounds progress I have no expectations of ever leaving CC-Z. I love this game, but REALLY wish they would change the tempo mechanics to be at least a little bit more forgiving. I mean, slightly faster than perfect results in the ball going WAY left, or slightly slower results in it going WAY right. Give me a break. I can see a SLIGHT right or left deviation (assuming your swing plane is still inside the blue cone), but not the difference between hitting a fairway and missing it entirely. And then of course "very fast" or "very slow" means off into the wild blue freaking yonder. If HB Studios is trying to alienate as many average/casual golfers as possible, they are certainly on the right track. I personally know 8 people who were hard-core TGC1 and TGC2 golfers, who have removed TGC2019 from their machine and gone over to Perfect Golf, or chose not to buy it at all. And that is just me. I wonder how many others have done the same. TGCTours is a fantastic community, and the game is awesome. I just think there is some middle ground that HB needs to locate. Doesn't have to be all uber-elite-PGA-Ultra Golfers on the one hand, & the baby-beginner-club-group (and all the stigma that goes along with that) on the other hand. A LOT of very, very good golfers in TGC1 and TGC2 have become CC-AM players in TGC2019. And I'm sorry but that is not normal. Some tweaking is very much needed.

Hang in there - I didn’t finish higher than 70th in CC-Z before getting promoted to CC-G thanks to finishing under par in the promotion event... no demotion marks yet in CC-G but easy to finish at the bottom if you get in a rut!

Help! Not sure if I need to post this in the bug and issues thread or not. I am listed on the CC-Z list but I am not able to join the Fighting Irish Invitational. I am able to join the upper division tournament (The Blue Moon Championship). Not sure what is going on, never had this problem with TGC2.

James, are you in too many societies? I've heard that there is a max that you can join, and once you hit that, it wont' let you join anymore?
in regards to the extremely sloped greens/pin locations on the marsh, case in point-
Hole 14, I hit a great tee shot. landed it three feet away from the hole. Being skittish of these greens already, I barely tap the ball. It missed by a hair, and rolled 19, yes NINETEEN FEET. from a barely tap. ended up with a bogie. makes no sense.
