I'm very thankful all of my Q-School Rounds at St. Bede are complete for better or worse. I have no desire to see that evil, beauty of a course, ever again, at least in the near future. Like many of us, I played that course over and over and over prior to Q-School beginning. During my Q-School rounds, I seemed to find my ball in places I had not visited before during all those practice rounds. Must have been the pressure. Did anyone else have this unpleasant experience? Pfft and I thought I was going to play well there. Ha!

That just happened to me in R2 - managed to hold level in R1 but R2 killed me with stupid unforced errors and I am now +4 after R2 with a lot of work to do. Personally though, I say "bring it on" with more difficult courses please. This one is not boring "thump & gouge" stuff.

It happened on a familiarization Round - why didn't I bite the bullet and make this my first round?

I think the key to Bedes is be really conservative and don’t be a hero. Or else BAM. Triple

I think the key to Bedes is be really conservative and don’t be a hero. Or else BAM. Triple The key is knowing where and when to attack the course. Hole 6 for example, wind against you like in the 1st 2 rounds. Leave the driver in the bag, play to either the 2 fairways on the left. You’ve got a longer approach shot but at least you can get there. Hole 13, rip the driver, the wind will take the fairway bunker out of play and leave a short pitch to the green. *using master clubs btw* Course management and a decent tempo will get you round safely.

The other key is to get lucky.
1) Sink a 54ft putt in Rd3 on the 1st for Birdie:
2) Play the angles to avoid water and find the fairway on 1st
I truly enjoyed the challenge, sweaty palms the whole four rounds but have not been that invested in rounds for a long time.
Loving Q-school!!

WELL - at least I don't have to worry about being in the PROs with a +4 in Round 2. +3 on the last 2 holes - DAMN - I got stuck against the boards on 17 next to the hole. +4 after 2 rounds.

I've played 3 rounds and they go like this 74-74-64
That 3rd round is not a typo, and no I didn't change to player clubs. I can't even figure out how I did it. If I can keep my total score under par for the first 4 rounds, I can go low at Pearl and maybe then I'll have something. Maybe.

+6, -1, -6, E, overall -1.
This was my first ever taste of TGC Tours, and it did not start well. I didn't show the course enough respect to begin with, and my tempo was off, resulting in double bogies on the 1st and 2nd holes, and a quadruple bogie on the 6th (after driving into the water twice).
I resisted the urge to quit, and managed to stop the rot, coming in with a 77 in round 1.
The real turning point came on the third hole in round 2, when I holed the 183 yard second shot for an eagle:
Still struggled a bit, but managed to bring the round in under par. Then, in round 3, everything went perfectly - I found my tempo, had plenty of luck, and scored 65. Don't think I could ever score better on that course.
Round 4 was uneventful, with a bogie at the last leading to a round of 75 and a score of -1 overall. Can't wait for next week now!
