I have experienced all 4.. with my newer controller (bought 2 months ago), I get the 1st 2 pics on the left. my original controller, which came with the PS4 about 5 years ago, gets all 4 pics, most of the time the 4th pic.

What am I doing wrong? Mine goes all the way to the bottom and then all the way to the top with a hook on the end?

My swing will end at about the same spot as the two examples on the left in your examples as far as coming up short from the top of the circle. I don't think it has anything to do with a controller, but rather simply stopping the downswing (pushing forward of the analog) before it goes all the way to the end. I have swung like this in golf games for over 10 years now and anything else would feel "wrong" as it were. I am not decelerating near the end, which is why I don't get slow downswing but on rare occasion (I tend towards fasts mostly when I miss a perfect). So it's like I am ending my swing (analog push) before I physically am restricted by the physical end (plastic) of the top of my actual controller. Something like a compact swing I guess. I always come back to the bottom of the analog, though.
I'll play a bit and try to get some examples.
I do this. They generally travel a little further up the scale than yours, but I use the exact same technique as you.

Some examples:
What I do and never really paid attention to is that I let go of the analog before my thumb or the controller stops moving.
No controller rocking here, but my thumb slips off the stick and continues to move forward, while leaving the stick behind. I regularly "miss" my downswing (while fully attempting to actually play a stroke) as my thumb is right on the edge of actuating the swing mechanic. As I'm light with the stick, the natural tightness (Oooh Errrr!) of the mechanism keeps me straight. Getting the right tempo with this technique varies massively from pad to pad, but once you've got it grooved, you're away...

I've seen videos where players have shot feedback that resembles this: My feedback line always goes to the top of the circle. I tried replicating it in the driving range by flicking the stick or not moving the stick the whole way and would always get a very slow swing and 50 or so yards less distance. Is this caused by old worn in controllers or just something certain players can do? Someone I know that has feedback like that was told they would fail the API. No idea if it helps hit it straighter or is related, but should it be a red flag if you constantly have shots like that which might fail the API at some point? Screenshots were from someone who is now scoring better than Brad. Just curious how many get the same feedback. I voted sometimes - Pic 1 and 2 (though my tempo is a bit more borderline) I can get if I swing a certain way. Pic 3 - only when putting, but quite regularly. Pic 4 - I have never had a successful stroke like that. Don't think I've ever had one like that, unless I knocked the controller.

I was asked to post this pic by the person who would have failed the api (not the one of the 4 pics I originally posted). This was from a shot they took the other week: Doyley does the lack of length not give enough feedback vs someone who reaches the top of the circle such as myself? Figure if people know before the start of the season then there will be less surprise if they get flagged later in the season.

I get half a line a lot and I’m crap. Putts especially do the half line thing.

What matters to us is the data we receive and when all other options are eliminated (3rd party controller etc) and only the partial swing remains then it's only fair to conclude it's a factor. Especially when some people in question test a full swing and produce results that pass fair play.
My recommendation is to use this technique at your own risk.

Putting is different to other swing mechanics though...you are far more likely to get a straight, shortened swing with your putter.

If I push through hard and hit the plastic I normally push the shot on a full swing the line is longer on chips and pitches. Edit: the longer shot line is because I let go of the controller at the end of the push but I don’t on a chip or pitch for some reason.

My line isn’t even straight with the putter it starts straight then bends slightly right, I push most of my putts so on a straight putt I aim left of centre on the hole on shortish putts.

Same, my putting has gone downhill in this game due to pulls which seem to be punished way more than in TGC2 (you could pull or push quite hard in that game and it would still go straight). I'm currently trying to set up my seating angle to be lower on putts so I can kinda see the screen and controller at the same time, because I've missed so many pretty easy putts in the new game due to slight pulls... For all other shots (apart from chipping) I only look at the controller stick, but obviously I can't do that with putting as I need to see the screen to judge the pace correctly, so maybe I need to invest in a fancy gaming chair that can be raised and lowered as needed to line up my controller and screen
