I played "The Winterstone" recently, and I thought it was a great alpine course. If only the RCR of Banff Springs was that good... This course you're planning looks to be even better than The Winterstone! Great pics and good stuff so far!

This looks right up your alley, I'm sure it'll be fantastic. And thanks, Jeff, I'm glad you liked it! I tried to do something way out of my comfort zone, and definitely struggled a bit with it. RJ is a master of the rough, dramatic, and natural courses, so this should hopefully blow mine out of the water.

Me: sees that rjwils30 has created a thread in the WIP section Me: stares at the pictures for abnormally long to let the details sink in Me: writes something really stupid on the thread so that it shows up in my "participated" section so I don't miss anything

Fake, overly touchy Bob Ross is kind of creeping me out...

Hahaha. Poor man’s Bob Ross is a beaut. Barely scratched the surface with this course but I like the routing. Should be some fun holes out there. The bunkers are going to fun as well. Get to go a bit crazy. Thanks Matt, I think the trick with this course is going to be restraining myself so it still feels like an old course routed over natural terrain and not a fancy resort course that looks like it was forced upon the land. we ll see. Lots of work to do! This looks right up your alley, I'm sure it'll be fantastic. And thanks, Jeff, I'm glad you liked it! By the looks of it Winterstone looks like it really captures the mountain vibe without being over the top. I’m going to look to that course as a precedence. quote author=" jeffbdvs" source="/post/307078/thread" timestamp="1518612400"]I played "The Winterstone" recently, and I thought it was a great alpine course. You trying to make the rest of us look bad or something?
You have some serious chops in the designer, brother...please publish more.

Haha. Thanks Griff. I would love to publish more frequently unfortunately my design process is not a linear one. With this course I’m thinking of streamlining the process so I don’t have to redesign and re-route holes over and over. You trying to make the rest of us look bad or something? I had essentially the same idea for the project I'll start after my current one is done. I'm sure it won't measure up to this one, but will give 'er a try! Nevertheless, am very excited to see this one as it comes along. Sandbelt is probably my favorite fictional design in the game and I also love Reverand Green. Stanley Thompson is very underrated among the Golden Age architects.

Nice that both of us are having a crack at a Stanley Thompson. I look forward to seeing your interpretation! It’s always been on my list as I love the the way that Thompson was able to accentuate the natural landscape with his designs. His bunkers will be a challenge but should be fun. I’m thinking I want the course to reflect what Banff might have looked like shortly after it’s construction years ago. I’ve been lookeing at old photos of his designs for inspiration as I think many of his courses have been soften over the years. So far the course is progressing slowly as I only have a few hours a week available to design right now. I had essentially the same idea for the project I'll start after my current one is done. I tried this after I got back from Banff (played Banff, unfortunately didn't play Jasper even though I was in Jasper on the same trip). My plot sucked, though. I'm terrible at creating mountains. Abandoned the whole process after a short amount of time.
Needless to say, this looks much better, and captures the look and feel right away from the screenshots.
