First time player and poster. Enjoyed my first tournament action at Katokosmos and finished -16 (well above my expectations after a +9 at Q-School) in spite of Gilligan as my caddy. Looking forward to the next tournament and chatting about everything on the boards. Cheers. Welcome aboard Jonas, and nice shooting, remember me being nice to you now when you're up on the PGA Oh, yeah...that'll happen real soon...uh, huh. It was fun and now I'm getting psyched for the next one at Hookenslice -- sounds like a course perfectly suited for the kind of golf I play: Army Golf -- left, right, left, right....

First round at Hookenslice - after some pretty encouraging practice rounds (averaging -7) - started off badly, struggling on the early easy birdie holes before double-bogeying the 6th to throw my confidence into free-fall. Or so I thought. Birdie and Eagle gets me back on track and I go on to score a -6 for the round. That double bogey has held me back a bit though.
I like the course's nice wide bouncy fairways, but not the unreadable greens. And every putt seems to be downhill . . .
Round two and maybe more, tonight.
Must admit though, I'm finally beginning to make progress with my swing. Much more reliable now, and most importantly, it seems to be repeatable too. I even tried a practice or two with the Tour clubs, and it went quite well as long as there was no interaction with the 'multipliers'. Trick is to keep the ball away from rough/sand/slopes as that's when the multipliers kick in and your swing becomes completely unpredictable. Maybe not confident in using the Tour clubs enough to use in competition yet, but signs of light through the impenetrable murk, perhaps.
As an aside, my finishing score of -22 on Katokosmos would have been enough to easily win the CC-Z competition. Maybe I'm actually a proper CC-E player now.
Question is: Is that because of my progression, or has CC-Z been filling up from the bottom up?

Good luck to you, Tru. I was pleased with my -16 on Katokosmos and I was eager for the new challenge at Hookenslice. I started with a decent -7, then staggered to a -1 (2nd round), rebounded with a -6 (3rd round), and finished with a miserable +2 (4th round). With the high-level math scores the leaders are posting, I figure my -12 will be good for at least one strike, maybe more. It was ugly on the greens and with my ghost player one-putting nearly every green, my confidence was shot. Oh, well...there's always another tourney just around the corner.

Interesting course. I was in the 86% for Fairways and 95% for Greens in regulation. Only a single bogey but equally a miserable four birdies. The number of times I watched first putts slip agonisingly past the rim of the cup was astonishing. This is one course that very forgiving on the drive but you have to plan to use the green better approaching from the longitudinal angle and having room to play.
There is always the next round but I'm never confident in the repeatability of my shots which doesn't help.

69 - 66.
Unhappy with first round as score to be made on this course. Second round much better apart from couple of poor slip ups.

Second round was a struggle with putting. Missed so many chances. Went 3 under after 5 only to chuck it all away by the 11th. Round was saved by a lovely 137yd lofted 9 iron for eagle on the 18th to finish -4 for the day, and -10 after two rounds.

Ok, next round. -8 for -18 after three. But. Oh my word . . .
Ladies and Gentlemen of the assembly of TGCTours, I humbly present to you no less than a par 4 albatross hole-in-one.
Thank you, thank you all. My tab at the 19th has been bolstered in anticipation. Feel free to join me for celebratory libations and some none-too-insignificant bacchanalian buffoonery!

Magnificent shot, Tru. Well done, mate. I didn't notice, but what model car goes with the hole-in-one? I'm sure the keys are in the mail from TGCT. Cheers!

Well played on the “albatrace”, Tru! One question: does Dr. Venture worry that you’ll get grass stains on your all white speed suit? 😋

Well played on the “albatrace”, Tru! One question: does Dr. Venture worry that you’ll get grass stains on your all white speed suit? 😋 All my good replays seem to come from my third rounds and that suit. Scared to change it, to be honest. It has so many possibilities though: Cruise Ship Cocktail Waiter, ditch the tie and open the shirt buttons and we'd have a '70s ice skater - even better with puffy sleeves! - or a big wide hat and a 'tache and we'd have a Mariachi band leader. Wavy blond hair and a bigger nose and we'd have Barry Manilow! Right. I'm gonna have to change it now. . .

Round 4:
Struggled on the front nine, poor approaches leaving too much to do to get down in one. Even par at the turn. Scored six birdies on the back nine for a 66(-6) which takes me to -24 for the tournament. Pretty happy with that.
Been an interesting and enjoyable few rounds at Hookenslice!

Round 4 - I was + 3 after 3 holes so was pretty happy to finish with a round of - 1. Overall I was disappointed not to build on my - 8 in Round 1. I ended up - 12 for the tournament which at present keeps me one shot clear of getting a strike.
