A terrible 73 last round. Lots of bogies and kept letting ball get away. Usually ok with chips but I was too close to pins and kept fluffing them. Back to E for me. Happy new year all. Happy New Year, bubbsboy100.. Sorry to hear about your round. I know how frustrating those fluffs can be...in fact, I've started putting most of my shots from the different green fringes. I used Course Designer to build a hole and I use it to play different kinds of shots from all kinds of angles. It's been helpful and I discovered that although there are many different variables for deciding which club to use for any shot, I've become more successful putting from the fringes close to the pin (inside 10yds) than from chipping. Don't know if this will help you, but thought you may want to consider putts (which get on the green) rather than chips (which I know too often can be fluffed for "no gain"). In any case, I'm sure you'll be right back up...you've got the moxie! Cheers, mate.

Happy New Year everyone! Bubbsboy and I will be back in a couple of weeks, but Jonas Grumby and KC Fox will be gone by then I'm sure. Happy New Year dgb1120 . KC Fox -- yep, he's solid and I'm sure he'll be on to bigger and better things. But good golly, Miss Molly, you must know something about my game that I don't. I've had a good spell recently, but I'm just one water hole away from disaster. In order to avert disaster, I'm trying to play smarter (from where do I want to shoot my next shot) rather than unleashing the fury on every shot. It was interesting on this Mandolin course, there was one hole where if I hit my driver 280yds safely in the fairway I was actually blocked by a tree from having a straight shot at the green; whereas, if I hit a 235yd 4 wood, I was in perfect position to see the entirety of the green without interference. So I am trying to use my practice rounds better and learn where to be on the fairway for the most advantageous shot to the green. I'm still quite a work in progress and I fully expect to be a roller-coaster golfer -- on the ups for a while and then wham! scream as I descend! In any case, Happy New Year and best wishes. Cheers, mate.

Cheers Jonas.
Yeah I put a lot from fringe but seemed I was set back a yard or two in 91% so chipped.
I do like 10 + distances with 3/4 back lift but these were less and in truth I could not control stick this time. Though have in past.
Onward and upwards
;-)

Excelsior!

Hooray! I'm not last! (That's the only bit of silver lining in an otherwise dismal cloud of play for me.)

Don't know how I got away with that but I earned my "D" card after last week. Really thought I blew it.

Round 1
68 (-4)
Bogey on 18 wasn't good.
Seen my ghost go right of fairway bunkers but I had been out driving him so I stupidly took them on and landed in deep rough. Played out and third was to 9 foot but missed putt. Been getting rid of most silly errors.
New in D so will have to look for what denotes clear strikes generally.

Round 1 68 (-4) New in D so will have to look for what denotes clear strikes generally. I've only been at this game a short while, but it seems like a consistent -4 or better will avoid the strike line in most tourneys. I try to aim for a -2/-3 on each nine (I figure a birdie on par-5s is not too much to expect) so by round's end I'm -4 or better for the round. Your 68 (-4) looks really good. Best wishes. (I'm preparing to start my debut R1 in CC-C...sure hope my strategy pays off in that level!) Cheers.

Oh, bubbsboy100., I've been meaning to ask you, have you ever played the TrueSimTour? I respect what you do in this game and how you play it, so I would be interested in your perspective since I'm considering diving into those waters.

When starting this game before I got a tour card I played in true sim.
I have vague memory of playing a comp with no green grid but not sure if it was in that , but think it was.
Having never played TGC1 then it was a disaster for me lol.
Good luck with the pro leagues and let me know how true sim is.

FWIW Jonas, I am retched on TST but enjoy it tremendously. Something about the challenge maybe. So dip your toe in, what's the worse that can happen?

Thanks for the encouragement bubbsboy100. & Art Vandelay . You guys are great! Best wishes. (Just played my best tournament ever with a -31 (61/68/64/64) in the CC-C. I think I should go buy a lottery ticket today -- I feel lucky!)

TST is the friendliest, most helpful place on this site Jonas. No-one looking down on anyone else (even if they beat them by 20+ shots a round) It is a real hard grind initially, specifically on the greens, but there are good tips to be found if you are struggling. And once you get into it, it is actually more fun (for me at least) than the 'normal' tour events. Give it a go!

Landed back in D after falling from B.
-22 for the week. Won't win. Won't X. Standard really.
Found the par 5s tough this week and every tee being elevated always kills me.
Onto next week.
