The English County Championship Tournament has officially started. There are 36 players who have been divided into 18 teams of 2. The teams will be divided into two leagues, the Northern and the Southern. Both leagues will have 9 teams, and each team will play a total of 9 matches, 8 against your own league, and 1 match against the opposing league. Each match will be played over 36 holes and last for a 6 day period. Teammates scores will be combined and the lowest scoring team will win the match and receive 10 points. In the event of a draw, both teams will receive 5 points each. The top 4 teams in each league will make the Semi-Finals, with the team with the most points playing the team in 4th place, and 2nd playing 3rd. The winners of these matches will then meet in the League Championship Final. The winners of the Northern and Southern league will then play each other in the English County Championship Final.

Looks excellently organised, and well explained @loughrey , thanks for this. bigglb1950 - I may not be a fellow Lancy (at least im no Yorkie) and you may not be a fellow Notts man (at least you arent Derbyshire...), so i say to you, lets take it to these sheep loving folk from Derbyshire with vigour and vengeance! Good luck all.

KenTremendous I look forward to our partnership and with arrow like approach shots that Robin Hood would be proud of and plenty of Lancashire Hot Pot to keep our energy levels up we should give the other teams a run for their money !

Eyup. Greetings from Yorkshire.
Loving this competion. Everyone stood on the first tee insulting each other! We might play a bit of golf at some point, but can see someone getting a 9 iron wrapped round their head before we finish the first week LOL.
Anyway, enough of the stereotypes, I have walked the whippet, taken my clogs off and played my rounds. Pretty average to be honest, but tell you what, you are going to have to hold onto your hats for the second round. It's a bit windy out there.
Scores on the doors are:
Blackwater 66. 6 under Macdougall. 65. 7 under
Total 13 under
I am sure the big hitters will take that apart, but best I could do, for now...
Good luck all, except Leicestershire obviously.
Bill
