Lets resurrect a year old thread.
I played this a bit when it came on the ps4.
Due to two more weeks until Destiny's next season hits and I just can't smack my balls around all the time (tgc) I've decided to do a double dip and Just bought this on PC. TGC is the only game I've double dipped on. Started it in 2014 on Xbox, then moved to PS, then to PC. Then double dipped TGC2 again. Once for PC and once for PS4.
Wanted to try Cyberpunk 2077 but there is no way my pc can handle that. Thought of getting the new COD but I'm a single player person who dabbles in a bit of pvp in Destiny but no way would I dare go up against the COD kids. And a 4 hour single player campaign is a joke. I like the occasional shooter, and open world games a lot. Considered the new Assassins Creed but opted not to. Maybe some other time. Starting to go nuts in lockdown with nothing to do but golf, and run the same old bounties in Destiny. I need something new to stimulate my aging mind.
Had a few bucks in my Steam wallet left. So I went down the street to the old lady's house under the guise of shoveling snow. Snuck some ketamine in her coffee, and stole her credit card.
Raced home, topped up my steam wallet, ran back down replaced her card and got out of there quickly.
I'm now downloading Red Dead 2 on PC. So in 8 hours (unbelievable download speeds there steam 27 gigs of 111 downloaded as of this post..brutal) I will be back to crashing my horse into trees. I had a lot of fun with this game for a while.
Wonder how it will perform on my old pc. Spent some time yesterday googling my setup and this game and from what I gather I should be able to do ok, not ultra everything for sure.
Disclaimer.
No snow was shoveled.
Disclaimer 2
No old lady's credit card was used.
Used my own. What do you think I am lol. Yeah I know I come across as whack job. I'm losing my mind due to age and thought process and better judgement is fading too lol...wasting time as I await this download to finish.
Anyone still playing this?

I think it was an amazing game.
When I finish a single player storyline, I usually don't play them again unless I can mod them and have a different experience. (still playing Skyrim for that reason!)
I'd play the online version of this one hands down and all the time if Rockstar would care enough about the hackers and cheaters to do something about them.

7 hour download lol
I finally got to play a little yesterday.
I played this when it came out on my original ps4 and it's by far the best looking game I've ever played.
I am now on PC, aging pc 4790k processor and gtx 980. I started the game yesterday now knowing what to expect. Did the 1'st couple missions in the snowy mountains. Averaging 45 to 60 sometimes fps. (I normally can't tolerate below 60 but this game is tolerable and barely noticeable. (will see how it is in the towns later on). The game defaulted me to Ultra textures and a mix of high/med/ultra in the settings. Have yet to tweak some stuff. But wow oh man. The graphic quality blew me away. Didn't expect it to look so good. Looks even better than it did on the ps4.
I find it's a bit tough getting used to the controls and overall sluggish movement when used to the fast high maneuverability floatyness of Destiny. Going to dig in the game a bit today and open it up to where I can free roam.
RE Skyrim. You know how many times I've debated buying that. For some reason I've chosen not to.

I still play RDR2 but now onPS5, everything transferred over from PS4 nicely and I can pick up where I left off in online and offline modes.
I’m mostly doing online bounty, moonshine and trader stuff. And buy horses. For some reason I get a bit attached to my horses. Lol.
But love this game. It’s great to play for a few minutes or a few hours.

Cruise the roads and trails, run across someone camping off the path, approach them, act nice, then shoot them in the face and rob them and hit the road again. Hardly ever get spotted. And working my way through the story. Just opened up stage coach robberies from the post master so will have some fun with that. Next week new season in Destiny 2 hits so will migrate over to that to check it out. But now I have this game to come back to once I complete the new season. Online bounties. Are they against real people? I would suck at that. In story mode did one bounty where I gave up, chasing this guy through a ravine and I can't manage the lasso for the life of me. I wound up just shooting him in the back and failing it. I could get into hiding on a hilltop (online mode) with a rifle and taking out people as they ride by though. Can you rob them? God this game brings out the worst in people lol.

Thats why you would never see me play online. I tried it once and thats exactly what happened to me. All I was trying to do was cash in fish at a butcher and kept getting killed on the way. I thought that was how the game was supposed to be played and back then just gave up and never went back. So yeah, if its not cool then nope, not for me. Have no interest in teaming up with people so will just stick to story mode. I'm not a griefer in any game. Never have been, never will. What I do against the npcs in story mode, well thats part of the game.
Edited to add. Glad Cliffs pointed that out. I would have hated to go online and play my playstyle in story mode and be labelled a griefer "or worse". Thats not me. I honestly thought that was how the online part was played by what happened to me when I 1'st tried it out on PS4 2 years ago. Which I quit after about an hour of getting killed trying to make it to the butcher. I've never tried it since picking up this on pc (other than to create a character).

God this game brings out the worst in people lol. Online bounty hunting is not against real people. If you start killing real players they have choices - they can play along with you after respawning and you guys can spend time killing each other *or* they can put a bounty on YOUR head for others to hunt you down (and they will hunt you down) *or* they can parley you for 10 minutes, meaning neither of you can harm the other. Most people online just go about their business though and do not interrupt other’s tasks. There are some missions where it opens you up to other players to come steal your stuff, I.e., long haul deliveries of trader goods. If you join up with a posse things can get interesting

I mostly play online, I’m rarely bothered by others while I’m doing my thing. I googled a bunch of info after I posted above and gave online a go. It's a lot different than when I played it before. Albeit it was a new addition to the game so it was a total gank fest. After finding out you can select defensive mode I decided to go for it. I've now logged quite a few hours online. Just got out of an 8 hour session of it. Yeah i spent the day playing today. I love it. Trying to level up so I can get some decent weapons. I've chosen trader and kind of regret it. Will pick another tomorrow. Trader guy keeps sweating me about not having enough supplies and feel like I'm constantly hunting. Though just before I logged of a few minutes ago he introduced me to some scareface lady and I now have a moonshine shack. Go to say I love this online mode more than story mode. I've had to team up a few times to progress the online story but it isn't so bad. Except the 2'nd to last mission I did today numbnut partner spent more time looting the guys we (I) killed and it seemed like I did most the work. Kind of greedy, share the loot. And the occasion pop up public events are kind of fun. But I keep getting one shotted by the Carancano gun. Need to get one of my own.

Don’t let the repetitiveness of the trader guy get to you, he is always saying that stuff. When you are able to, upgrade your wagon so you can haul 100 items. There’s also a Hunter wagon you will be able to get eventually. You’ll be able to make hunting more efficient with it. Here’s a tip for you on that. If you can get your camp to set up in the area just west of the railroad station near Flatneck, there is a pig pen at that station that usually has 5 or 6 pigs in it. Kill them, take them to camp then go back 2-5 minutes later and do it again. But let the donkey live You’ll usually find other game in the area while you are waiting for the pigs to respawn. Moonshining is fun. I’ve built out my shack and also make sure I snag the ingredients to make the strong, expensive stuff.

I've never thought about wagon much other than to drive the one to sell stuff when dingleberry needs me to. Now I have a mission/goal for tomorrow. Check out what I can upgrade, work towards that. And I had no clue about the hunter wagon. That is awesome to know. And guess I'm harvesting pigs tomorrow lol. After I see what moonshine lady wants me to do. I just went to my new shack when they gave it to me and walked and then logged out so don't know what she wants me to do. Also love being able to cruise around the west. I hadn't opened up that part in story mode yet. I did when I was on PS4. Love the look of the whole area. Many thanks for the tips. Much appreciated. Probably saved me some googling. lol

Don't worry guys. Don't intend to spam videos every day. Maybe one or two here and there if something funny or weird happens. Like today
Fist part is the end of a "stranger mission" in online (addicted to online now). Glitch I suppose. Giant guy
2'nd is I found thanks to google a trick about blowing up your cart then putting the supplies on your horse to speed up the delivery.
Watching the map not where I'm going. When I played this on PS4 when it came out I was forever crashing my horse from watching the map not where I'm going. Doing much better now. Haven't killed this horse. Hope not to. He's a fully jizzed up now Thoroughbred. Don't see much reason to go for another horse, this one is fast and reliable. I may head north some day to try and catch the Arabian.
I'm still level 3 of trader. Going to take years to get to level 10 to unlock the hunter wagon. Admittedly though my time today was spent doing online story missions via matchmaking. Trying to get xp to level up. Up to level 18 now. It's a slow grind. I like that. In Destiny it's rather easy to level up then you are left twiddling your thumbs running bounties over and over just to keep playing.
