Well I finally got my very 1st Delta Theme Course done. I was pretty skeptical going into it because I'd never really had much desire to tackle that theme. Once I got started I really enjoyed designing this course. I hope you enjoy the course!! Name: Pirates Lair Par: 72 7073 yards Greens: Medium Firm/ 187 speed Fairways: Firm

Nice course. If you like the Delta theme then you're gonna love this course. Me not so much - the theme lends itself to a "scruffy" course. But hey, that's just me. This is a good course, get out and play it.

Thanks Peter, glad you enjoyed the course. Never thought I'd get a Delta Theme designed but here it is...LOL. I'd have to agree with you on the Delta theme, not particularly my favorite either. Terrific pictures Vic!! This community is very lucky to have you as our Course Photographer. Thanks for posting them, it's very much appreciated bud!!

Gave this a whirl after a personal request: Fired it up to see what it looked like off the first tee & it made me want to play it.... Beautiful Delta course.... very very nice.... 3w off the tee is the key (especially on front 9).... slick greens with medium firmness worked very well & it would make a great test for the upper CC tour next season.... 5 under par in medium winds. All in all a great course, very well done Griz, gave it a 9/10.

All in all a great course, very well done Griz, gave it a 9/10. Same as Sam here 3 W is the magic club ! throughout this Course, Using the Driver caused me many problems !. For me this course is very tough even at CC-C Would be best suited for the higher skill level, but if one is looking for a challenge!, well this should entice you. He has produced a beautiful looking course out of this Delta Theme.Greens are Fast but seem to be medium in firmness so play very fair indeed. Lighting has a nice ambient feel, very distinctive bunker designs and well manicured.Great outlook standing on the tee from many holes.... well done . His Planting technique and skill has produced a very nice natural looking outcome here, it looks really good and sits well on this difficult Delta theme. Fairway design at times is penal with dashes of strategy thrown in, but only when using the driver.Fairways for me seem a little on the narrow side, but this is probably what he had intended ? The Paths are done well and look nice and smooth Enjoyed the course even though i found it tough and the overall outlook and feels sat well for me. Good green sizes here too buddy and will suit Multipin for sure. So the only thing i found was the fairway landing areas for driver were a bit narrow for me, and that`s about it really Rated it 8/10 Thank you mate and appreciate your effort/time and contributing to tgc, this is what keeps it going is new courses being added

Enjoyed my round here even if I did the best I could to stay off the fairway. Think I actually got my first FIR on 9. That's was more a result of bad play on my behalf, but as mentioned above some fairways are a bit narrow and pinched at the Driver - 3w range depending on wind.
Very nice look and feel to the course so I recommend all to play it. Not overly difficult if you focus while putting, but it's not a pushover either.
Well done!

Thanks guys for giving the course a run through. I wanted to make a course where everything off the tee wasn't a grip and rip it and you had to think about what club to take out of the bag. There's still plenty of holes to hit driver but your first go around is gonna make you think if your paying attention. I made most the fairways 22-25 yds wide, but if your gonna rip a driver you might hit it to far into where some bunkers are starting to pinch off some of the wider fairway. Again, it'll make you think about just how much club you want to hit. If you play smart off the tee it'll reward you, because the greens aren't the strong suit for this course. The greens are pretty easy for most players standards. I appreciate you guys taking the time to play Pirates Lair and it pleases me to here the nice comments.

I got constantly thrown off guard by the firm fairways. I always feel it's a bit odd when the fairways are firmer than the greens, but I think it works here as there is no need to roll the ball up to any pins in its current setup and it basically only makes the tee shots more difficult.

Played this course a couple of times last night. Sunny conditions with winds going from calm to double digits. Sunny looking like mid to late afternoon. Love the design work on this one. With the plantings and the angle of the sun coming through the trees it reminded me of times as a kid in the fall when everything was wonderous...
Lots of variation to this course from hole to hole. Thinking about tee shots and do I use my driver and try and squeeze the ball between two bunkers on that narrow fairway or play my 5w with no worries. Eh I just went for it most all the time. Ended up in 2 or 3 bunkers and a couple roughs. But it's nice to have to think instead of just auto driving.
Greens were tough but fair. Not sure how this one plays on fast firm. This one is a temptress that will no doubt end up on the tour events. Some folks are going to be Heros while others will crash and burn trying to be. And others will play safe and stay clean.
Nice course Terry. I favorited it.

I kind of agree with all the opinions published, the only thing I found a bit repetitive was the fairway bunkering. They are well designed, sculpted and placed, but after a few holes the pattern was a bit obvious. Bunker right and bunker left of the landing area. That's the only minus I found. And nitpicking, but maybe a bit bigger variety of hazards from the tee would be welcome.
Anyway Terry, this is a really good course

Thanks for playing the course guys and glad you enjoyed it. I'm not sure what you mean Pablo about a bigger variety of bunkers. Do you mean bunkers that would never come into play that would be in different placements or bunkers that do come into play but maybe on just one side and not both sides? I've seen a lot of courses that have bunkers just mainly for looks that never come into play but that seems useless to me. Don't get me wrong, it looks nice but I've always felt what's the point...lol. Thanks for the feedback guys and playing!!
