Hey all,
I've been switching between two different types of mice and I have noticed something. On the mouse that is lighter, it seems my backswing isn't as straight as the heavier mouse. On both mice I will hit the ball straight but I am thinking that because my backswing is crooked, this causes the ball to launch from the tee immediately right or left, depending on how my backswing was.
I wasn't aware that the backswing had anything to do with the shot and in looking around the forums, this seems up for debate. Does anyone know for sure if the backswing can affect the shot or am I just imagining all this stuff.
I will give an example. On #2 of Crawford, a 1mph wind I aim pretty much right at the pin, yet my shot jumped off the club to the right at impact even though I had a perfectly straight shot. I ended up on the right side of the green and could not for the life of me figure out how this happened. I was able to recreate the shot with the lighter mouse but not with the heavier mouse, so the only think I could figure was my backswing wasn't straight. This has been a consistent issue with various courses so I'm trying to find a solution. I prefer the lighter mouse, but if it is going to be an issue, I have no choice but keep with the heavier mouse.
For the record both are set at 1000 DPI and both have the same laser optical sensor. Only difference is the weight.

Hi Brighttail I play with an XBOX controller on my PC and the DS4 on the console. I've always taken just as much care, if not more, with the backswing as I do the forward swing. I draw the club back nice and slow with my thumb and push forward rather quickly for my forward swing. It's my opinion that deviations from a straight shot can take place if either the backswing or forward swing aren't straight. If my shot isn't straight, I can usually tell if my backswing or forward swing was the culprit. On my best days when I'm hitting it straight and can't miss - my backswing feels just as good as the forward swing and it feels like I'm hitting both the forward and back sweet-spots on the controller. I play much of this game off feel and pay mind on each and every shot to a nice easy backswing, slight pause at the top, and a deliberate forward swing. If I'm hooking or pushing shots, I always check my backswing and pause at the top before I look at my forward swing. Played your ghosts quite a few times on PC so I wanted to say hi and give you my opinion on backswing...hope this helps! I do appreciate it, the only reason i asked is you can tell if your foreswing is off by the marker on the screen but you don't get any feedback about your backswing. So if the backswing is off and it does influence your swing, it would be nice to know when you aren't doing it properly. Perhaps the swing meter can show the backswing at 5oclock with the foreswing being at 12 oclock would be a solution. My worry is, that since this isn't the way the swing meter is done, that the backswing has actually NOTHING to do with the direction of the shot and it is just a weird bug that keeps happening from time to time. BTW hi and don't take all my rounds into consideration, I often play to try different things, those are the ones that are normally many many stroke over par, unless you have been playing Kodiak, then you are probably right.. hate that course....

with all do respect noel, your mouse settings are set up to tailer a video golf swing, its optimized to not allow a mishit, why can't you just admit this and move on.
do yourself a favor, go get a genuine xbox360 controller (20-30 bucks) and call it a day.

I was unaware I had ever disclosed what mouse I have and for your information, I now, do have an XBox 360 gamepad but have no wish to use it other than for F1 2014. If you can enlighten me further as to the mouse I use and subsequent, software and settings, please do. If you can't then please try not to embarrass yourself by pretending to know more about my hardware than I do.

Speaks volumes does it ? Please feel free to expand.
And seeing as you have no idea what mouse I use, how do you know that I use anything more than Windows settings which do not allow for zero axis deviation ? Once again, please divulge your superior knowledge.

why dont you just tell us what your settings are noel?
then tell us why you refuse to use the widely accepted xbox controller?
how about explaining how you achieved a tiebreaker hundreds of points better than a legitimate player with the same stroke count time after time in TWO. tie that in to explain why your putts per hole were well under 1 with a very high GIR at the same time.
you know what you are doing, and you know its not right, otherwise you would go legit and just use the xbox controller. but no, if you see an advantage, you go after it, nothing has changed for you since two.

Whoa folks, please don't hijack my thread for something else that it wasn't designed to be. I was talking about my backswing and not about "perfect swings", "cheating" or anything else. If you want to talk about that stuff, I respectfully request you take it to another post.
Thanks,
BT

I can't tell you what settings I use because I don't have any. I choose not to use my controller because I am now perfectly comfortable with my mouse, just as I was on TWO. I assume that there are those on here, including you who now think that using a mouse is basically cheating even though HB allows that option ? If you were able to look back at TWO leaderboards, my tiebreaker scores were actually not as good as they could have been and I quite often lost tournaments if I had tied scores because of a lower tiebreaker. I certainly wasn't one of the guys posting those ridiculous tiebreak scores. And yes, I do know exactly what I am doing but my scores are not particularly good or consistent which is hardly reflective of a guy trying to "cheat" his way to the top. Once again, if you have information that I don't, please let me know. I'm sorry, what part of, "Please take this elsewhere or to another topic" did I fail to make clear?

@ Brighttail - I've gone to Crawford a handful of times the last 24hrs but can't seem to get lower than 7mph wind on #2 so I can't really confirm anything. Thinking back on practice rounds, I know I had a tendency to aim just to the left of the pin on #2. @ tastegw - what are your thoughts....any correlation between backswing and flight path? yes, if i pause for a slight moment at the end of my backswing, i tend to swing straighter, but this only lasts but so long before i screw it up just like i do everything else lol, and revert back to normal, only to revert back to pause, its a never ending cycle.
