Instead of longest or in addition, how about total distance of all putts.

Total distance is not really that useful from a stats point of view as it mixes GIRs and putting

Yeah - the TV likes it but it's a pretty stupid stat IMO.

We only have the longest putt per round stat available to us. I already requested more detailed data because it would be really interesting to see the make percentages of different lengths of putt etc. Think we will have to wait til TGC 2 though.

Actually Putts gained could be calculated by the data available with a smart algorithm.

Putting strokes gained would be class. Total distance would be super as well. The more the merrier.

OK - that sucks big time... I assumed HB was a bit more generous than just handing out arbitrary pieces of information that are not the main numbers used in golf. But they do have a history of golf illiteracy so figures, I guess.

I think total distance of putts made is a great stat. I'll guarantee the top guys would be leading it. It would also confirm to me for certain that I need to hole more putts to take that extra step. At this point I still think I'm just unlucky. Lol

It does have more value when Players are hitting 16-18 GIRs. Still - it's a stat that mixes putting and ball striking and hard to draw conclusions from.
