Full 18 is now complete.
Conditions Medium Firm - Medium fast, yes there happens to be such a thing as medium firm. What I did was stand at exactly at 164 yards, I set the firmness to medium and the ball stopped dead, at about 160 yards with my 158 club. I then set the firmness to firm and the ball rolled and rolled, in access of 170 yards. I then started to dial the firmness back 1 pixel at a time and repeat the same shot over and over and over, it was not until I got back to almost medium that the ball started to stop rolling and rolling but however did not stop dead either. The ball started to stop rolling at about the 165 yard mark. I repeated the shot several times as well to make sure.
So there is 1 pixel in there between med and firm that allows the ball to roll out a little but not stop dead. Hence the med firm designation I gave it, I believe to be a true Med Firm.
To prove it, I made a video, 26 seconds.
I was trying my hardest to avoid the use of fast greens, the putting looks sloppy on fast greens, and comes off the putter face weird, I was also trying to stop the drop and stop with every club, and not have the ball roll and roll and roll.
Youtube video of course is here.
I hope you enjoy.

that looks like it took a ton of time on those rocks, looks good though steve. LOL, only a master such as yourself could spot that. Much more time on the rocks then the course itself. I give up almost on planting plants and grass and bushes as everything I plant, looks like crap. But I'm getting better with trees and rocks are fun now. I started to bury the rocks to make a path on 1 and stopped. That would take months, but I discovered it's doable, but I quit on building paths before it was done. The rocks will bury flush to the land as well as being stackable.
Good thing I like to do this when I'm bored, because for the time and energy put into 7 eventual plays, i.e I still think I did pretty good with Royal Montreal, but it does seem almost pointless to me. I played Royal Montreal again this morning, it's still my fav of my work anyway.
In looking at your courses, it always amazes me at how natural and yet so nice you can make the course look.
I hope you never give up on designing, I know I'm thinking about it.

Well I hope you continue to design Steve so long as you find joy in it. As someone with very little time spent in the designer i think many others including myself with our limited understanding cannot really appreciate how much you guys put into these courses. Personally I look forward to your courses Steve, as much as I do from designers such as tastegw, Wendy, biggins and so on and I see it as a given that courses from designers such as yourselves will be the ones played on these tours, in fact it's a selling point to me as a tgctours player knowing there is a community of course artists contributing and supporting us. I am certain the ease of a course being buried in the unknown and barely played basket is attributed to the way the course directory operates. I don't know what I would do though I'm certain it lies therein and operates in the same vein of any competitive product that isn't marketed well. So many great courses must lie amongst all those piles of (lovingly crafted) less enjoyable courses (to my liking It prompts the thought of how many great courses I've favourited and barely played or played once again. Royal Montreal comes to mind.
