Here is a chart of the total distances (carry + roll out) our TGC Golfer hits the ball against a 1mph head wind in differing conditions (soft, normal and firm - there are only 3 different firmness levels) and differing surfaces (Fairway, Slowest green speed, medium green speed and fastest green speed). This is with no lofting, just a normal shot to a flat surface. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Qh6YWzSHL1VuQhLWdIyt_VQycgneh8P08-WqSlkXjjo/edit#gid=0The 5-iron will roll out to about the same distance when hit to a soft green whether it's the slowest 101 speeds (184 yards) or the fastest 187 speeds (185 yards). In firm conditions the slowest speed greens will travel 11 yards more (195 yards) whilst the fastest green speeds will travel a whopping 18 yards more (203 yards). What is interesting to note is that firm/slow rolls out just a little bit further than medium/fast. This means there is greater emphasis on accurate ball striking on a firm/slow course than a medium/fast course. Granted, the putts won't then break as much so it will be easier to putt on the greens if it's the same sculpted green.

Very helpful, especially when you're learning a new set of controls. Thanks for making this!

Great work pal. Remember the distances are with a 1-yard head wind. All the difference in the world haha.

This may seem a dumb question but I'll post anyway and if you laugh, please do so silently.
Would there be any difference in distance striking from the fairway as opposed to a tee shot?
Thanks and kind regards to all,
oz

I don't think so, as both undergrounds show you 99-100%.
But I've never tried myself, so this information is supplied without liability.

Thanks for your reply. Thanks Thomas for your reply,
As I have a keen interest in 'physics', then in r/l it would have to make a slight difference, in particular with shorter irons and loft, and distance with longer irons.:albeit minimal.
I doubt however that HB would be applying physics to everything in the game.
I posted just out of interest.
Regards to all,
oz
