Firm Fairways Firm Greens Thanks for that. I've already played a couple of versions and new they were different. First time I played it in the RRCC I got stuck behind a tree on a par 5 and took 9!! I blamed you, obviously...

Got to say, I keep seeing posts about how there's good scoring to be had at Coastal Tai Pan. Not for me! I find it a really tricky course and just seem to keep finding myself in all sorts of trouble. Maybe it's one of those that just doesn't suit my eye? I'd played it twice before this tourney and struggled, now started 66, 66 here and haven't even got to the firm greens yet!

Not a big fan of 5 rounds on the same course. I like this course but got tired of playing it. Probably why I stink - I don't practice before tour events for the same reason of just getting burned out.
I can't remember my score but it was about 20 strokes behind Jeff Jeter on the leaderboard. Well played there sir.

I have to say I agree to a point. I loved the course until I got stuck under a bridge and took a 10, Jeffjeter was there for the taking as well...well maybe not but who knows.

Yep, JeffJeter has torn this one up and left the rest of us choking in his dust! I've managed to match his 57 in round 4 but was already 18 shots behind at that point! I'm off to play round 5 now. I have to agree that 4 rounds is enough in the future. Certainly don't want this escalating even further!

It was a suggestion from BoomBoom himself but to be honest I am not enjoying setting these up. I don't feel like playing them and also feel like I am getting nothing from it.
Sounding like a broken record, I'm sorry.

You might be able to catch me in round 5......took a triple late in the round and finished with a -4.......i have to say i was excited when i noticed at the beginning that it was 90 holes. These are awesome tournaments.....i look forward to them through the week because i can never spread my pga tournament out......i always play the whole tournament in one session. You're doing a great job here and great choices.....can hardly wait for Little Brook Manor lol.

Ahhh digsb is on the forum. I always play against your ghost ball because we seem to put up similar scores. I also am not a fan of the 5 rounds. The different conditions are fine as that can happen in real life.

Well played there sir. different pins and conditions..... Maybe I should stop doing this if people don't like it. Yeah, I realize it is different pins and conditions. But moving the pin 20 feet doesn't affect the course that much. A few of the tee shots were very different. I think it is mostly sour grapes on my part since I played it all at once and didn't play well at all. In fact, I was brutally awful and stopped caring. BUT...that is not to say I don't like this tournament. You tried something different and I'm just expressing an opinion that I'd rather not play 5 rounds. That in no way means I won't participate going forward or that I don't like this. In fact, I would be very disappointed if you shut this down. Two things I really don't like - people that sign up for events and don't play them and getting partially through an event and then it goes away. I may be a bit old school, but I've always taken the approach that if you start something, you finish it. So @ichaozxd, you stop doing this and I will fly across the pond and personally smack you in the head. Again, this course is really good. There's one hole I hated because I thought the t-shot was too tricked up, but it is a great course all around.

I know exactly which tee shot you mean yaters, and I completely agree. Did enjoy the very different tee positions though, completely changed the hole. Daniel, at the very least let us play Tye Dunes. I'll cry if you don't

I'll cry if you don't 15 I bet, I was going to cut off the fairway and just let the approach happen from a greater distance, then thought what the hell, give some crazy bas-tard the opportunity to hit further up the fairway if they chose. Following ghosts, its extremely interesting watching the ghosts. I blocked the 14th fairway shortcut completely, yet it amazed me how many still tried it. I guess some people just don't know how to play for par and just go for everything all the time. Product of the tin cup era I suspect. Chaoz, i enjoyed the 5 rounds, I designed the thing so have played them all many times, yet still enjoyed the 1500 yard differences. TY for doing this.

When I said hole I meant holes, over the five rounds the different tees made the whole thing a very different beast each time. I wasn't a massive fan to start with but as I played it I realised how cleverly done it was. I particularly enjoyed the Saturday set up. The tee shot I meant was the par 4 with a split fairway and a whacking great tree blocking a drive on to either side. Not a fan but it's all down to personal taste. I'm planning on getting in to a bit of designing and the way you set your courses up to give all these options is something I am very much taking on board.

I disagree with that boomboom, if we are thinking of the same hole. It is not a product of having to go for everything all the time. It was more, with the wind speed and direction, putting the tee shot in an area that let you have a second shot. There is like 10 yards of fairway on the right and it sloped to heavy rough. With 15 mph winds, it is a very difficult shot, especially if the wind is taking it right as well. I missed my landing area and trickled into the heavy rough, played for par, and moved on. The problem is that you can't always tell if a tree is going to get in the way. I tend to not risk a shot if there is a chance of smacking into the trees. So to me it isn't a tin cup attitude, it is more just not having a clear understanding how to play a hole correctly and trying what, at the moment, feels like the safer play.
