Congrats on getting that mentorship Matt. I know that's huge for you right now and I love your commitment to learning what is comfortable for you. Hope to have my first one up some time this week, some kind of intro thing about me, where I'm at with my game and what my goals are for this year with some game video of my last time out. Keep on it man, I'm excited for ya. Thanks a lot, man. I'm definitely excited to see your update as well! Btw, I used that swingbyswing app today...wow, where has this been all my life? So easy to track my score. Score-wise, and a bit of a spoiler, but I shot 84 yesterday and 84 today. Yesterday was my best round of the year, and then to repeat it just validates more that I am on the right path. Just have to get the swing path right as it's still very much over the top. Jim sent me text audio message this morning which was just awesome.

Agree on the swingbyswing app, i'll give it a look to see if your scorecard shows up.

Wish there was a way to share the detailed stats.

Great read.....Personally I have always believed everyone has to find what works best for themselves. No 2 swings are the same on the PGA tour, so there must be something to that. Must be repeatable and doable under pressure.
I always said, it's not how far you hit it, it's knowing how far you hit it that's the key to success in this game.
Good luck and I will be sure to follow along here.

The OP is looking for scratch, remember the old saying, something like, there's not a hole in the world that you cannot par with at least a 150 yard shot in the bag. This swing from what I seen is almost mistake proof. Took 100 moving parts and reduced it to 10. As the OP is playing a par 3 course in the opening video demonstrated to me, it's that 150 yards and in that is being dialed in presently. Pitching and chipping looked dialed in real nice except for line presently. Dial in the under 150 shot, use a more conventional swing for the drive (Sometimes) and bam, this guy will be a birdie machine. Just my 2 cents, but I think the OP can get to scratch with this method.

Commitment is much harder than I thought, and even more so when it's out there for the world to see. I think what you said about "Took 100 moving parts and reduced it to 10." is spot on. The method is one that eliminates all the movements to make a 1.2-second motion perfect. We anchor onto the left, with closed shoulders, and remain "still" in that position to ensure the shoulders remain closed and the ball is hit from the inside. My #1 issue is still the OTT move. In the video below, my first Full 18 round recorded, you will see this move 90% of the time. It's my weakness, but the great part is, once I fix this by keeping my shoulders closed, I'll be making much better contact - and much more consistent. With that said, after rounds in the very high 80's and 90's.......

"Use a more conventional swing for the drive". Sure, and for the woods and hybrids.
I believe Matt has enough ball in him to get to scratch as well. But does he have the time?
This "method" is probably good to shock some old sins out of the system and then dialled back into conventional form but with same intents it could be golden.
Intents are huge in swinging a golf club.

Hard to see the top hand in the video's, but the bottom hand is definitely on the weak side. That will also help the over the top move as well.

Hard to see the top hand in the video's, but the bottom hand is definitely on the weak side. That will also help the over the top move as well. Yes, definitely. It's one of those set up things again. I need to pivot into the grip better, because you can see that my left hand grip is still very weak, which doesn't help when I put the right hand onto the club...resulting in my previously closed shoulders (still need more) now opening up slightly. The other part, regarding alignment, is that my feet-line is angled to the right. My right leg drops back too far, it's just more ingrained "fixes" for my previous slice in the conventional swing. The great thing is, with this method, I play from a position. The fixes are not in the golf swing itself, it's in the set up. That eliminates so many more variables, and I know what I need to do. Now, it's just about doing it.

Another solid round, a couple actually as I shot back to back 80's. For a 14.5 handicapper, that's not bad at all! Here's the vlog of the most recent round:
