So my links theme course is nearly complete, but I originally planned a third 9 to make a 27 hole resort, allowing me to make a championship 18 out of the best holes. The only problem is that the third 9 will basically be a loop around the existing course, and I'm not sure if this would be interesting enough. Would people like to see something like this, and effectively be able to play their favourite combination of 9s like at Prince's? Or would I just be creating more effort for myself for no reward?

It's a lot of effort with minimal payoff, but it's really all about your vision, man. As a designer, it's hard for me to tell another designer it's not worth it. It's totally worth it if it's what your vision is or it's what you want.

It fills up area without needing bushes, and as I'm going for a genuine links theme I think that is definitely a good thing. I'm gonna go for it and see if it pays off!

I did this with one of my courses and I don't consider it worth the effort. I think it was overwhelming for people naming wise and no matter what they had to play the same holes to get to the other 9. If you want to jump in and look at how I did the plot, it's "The Little John".
I will say however that it was a fun project to complete.

Hmm... If there was space on the inside, then do it, but around the outside might be tough. Hey, some guy is doing a 72 hole resort, so there's gonna be some boring holes. Just be varied in the design and it'll work. Again, do what you want.
Are you in the CC Design Contest? If so, good luck!

Save a copy of the course file somewhere as is. Use that file when you publish. Then you can screw around with it as much as you want without messing anything else. You can publish whichever one works.
Problem solved. NEXT! :-)
If you're not on pc ignore all that and just leave it alone. You can always edit it after publishing.

And yeah, it's not so much boring holes I'm worried about cause I think I should be okay on that front, I just don't want to put in all this effort for no reason - that being said I don't get many plays anyway so I basically just do it for myself! reebdoog, I am on Xbox. However I have decided to go for it from the start, even if it doesn't work out it was one of my visions for the course and as others have said, I should try to achieve that.

I'd go for it this time, but if you don't like it, nobody's forcing you to do it ever again.

But yeah, a combination of factors are making me want to do it - it fills up space which in the Links theme is a definite bonus, then it means I can pick the best routing for my course to submit to the contest, and it passes the time without me having to design another layout!
