I am working on my first design, and I want to get some feedback on what I have so far. Hopefully I will be able to apply any good advice to the remainder of the course.
The current published name of the course is "Olsen Unnamed Beta 3 holes".
My intent is to create an original but realistic course design that can also pose a challenge to good players in this game with appropriate conditions. The setup/pins in this beta version are intended to be of medium difficulty, but I am interested to hear if they are too easy/difficult. The currently published holes are not necessarily going to be consecutive in the final design (most likely they will be #1, #2, and #4). It is 2 par 4's (one potentially driveable), and one par 3.
All feedback (or criticism) is welcome. This is my first go at this, so I want to learn anything I can from more seasoned players and designers. If I spend the time making an entire course, I want to be sure it is something people will enjoy playing!
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to take the time to provide any comments.

George I noticed this thread last night and then saw this morning that no one had bothered to respond. I played your 3 holes and they were quite respectable, nothing startling and that's gonna be your problem. There are so many wonderful designers out there and the flood of new courses to play is unending. You have to stand out or get lost amongst 1000's. Now I don't design courses so I'm not qualified to comment on the design aspects so I won't. But here's where I think you should start. pablo (Pablo) is a pretty good designer and a stand up sort of guy. I suggest you pm him through these boards and ask for some feedback. I'm certain he would be happy to help. Good luck and I look forward to playing your first full offering.

George, for sure I'll help. Right now I'm away from home, but once i get there I'll try to give you some advice. And if you see I don't, feel free to remind me to do so

bogeyman thanks for the insight, and thanks for playing the course. I'm sure I will have to come up with something unique to make my course (or any course for that matter) stand out among all the great courses out there. I've only been around here for a couple of weeks now and I have clearly noticed that there are many talented designers. pablo, I would love any help that you can provide me. I really enjoy designing, and I'm eager to get as much advice as possible from those more experienced.

George, just played the three holes. Look at this picture of the third hole, it contains a little bit of all I'd like to point out of this course Suddenly, the first cut disappears. That may work in certain circumstances, but my advice is to be consistent, if you use it, use it everywhere, and if you don't use it, don't use it in the whole course. Also, in the areas where you have placed it, in my opinion is a bit too wide compared to the fairways. When you draw a piece of fairway, use the same brush in the same size and click around four times. That gives you a nice trim of rough surrounding the fairway (or any other surface), it'll look much better. When you lay a texture really close to the edge of another one some of the intersections may look weird, like in the bunker. Leave a little room between both shapes so their edges stay the way you want them. I prefer to lay first the water and then, all the shapes around it, and it's because sometimes you may get some strange behaviours, like fairways not showing (if that's the case, use the fuzzy blue brushes to smooth the terrain). The greens are ok to me, nothing to comment on them. Also, sculpt a bit more the bunkers, so they look more "alive". But all in all, you have some decent skills with the GNCD, so it's looking good for a first time, keep up the good work

Pablo, thanks a ton for playing the course and providing feedback! When I finish the front nine (about half way there now), I am going to go back and redraw all the fairway/rough lines as well as sculpt the bunkers again (based on your advice). I have used your suggestions on the hole I am currently working on and it looks much much better.
