I have seen a few players recently using punch shots with long irons almost like pitch shots. Using them to stop the ball from rolling so much on firm greens.
Does anyone have any charts that have the expected distances for punch shots (lofting up)?

Maybe a better explanation is needed, my testing just now shows the long irons lofted up behave identical to normal shots of similar lofting.

A punch shot,unless I'm gravely mistaken,should keep low,not 'loft up'.
It's the sort of shot which used to be used a lot on windy links courses. So as not to be affected by the wind, the ball is kept low.
I think a distance chart for such shots would not be all that accurate,as the ball is bouncing more in a punch shot,so terrain comes into play more.
I'm not a golfer,so I could be completely wrong!
I've punched out of the woods a couple of times,to find a gap in the trees - as expected the ball kept low.
I have no idea if keeping low on long irons negates the wind. I would hope and expect the game is sophisticated enough that it does.
Lofting up a punch shot? I've never tried it. It would be interesting to try and see the result.

Probably you are. I would think a lofted punch to a green would bounce, take some spin and slow down then run on again but it may not.

I think you miss my point I think a regular 3i shot is the same as an lofted up 4 bars 3i punch shot of course I might be wrong but if I'm right the entire loft system needs revisiting

Whether you're right or wrong, the loft system needs changing.
Why would anyone choose to hit a punch shot but use loft unless there is an exploit to be had.

I suspect it's just to get the goat of people always looking for a reason why other players are better. I have had a change to check if there was even a different reaction in the wind, and there is zero difference. The punch shot and the normal shot are identical in all ways when using the same loft.

I don't know. I swear I have seen a player use a lofted 31 punch shot to get the same distance as a regular 6i but with much less roll on a firm green. I might go out and test this some.

Loft it all the way up and its the same as a 3-4 box lofted regular 3I shot. Punch shots and regular (normal) shots use the same box grids. A normal shot starts in the middle, but a punch shot starts at the bottom. In the end its just trying to avoid rollout on firm greens by lofting profusely.

idk man the game games me and I agree the loft system needs serious changing I don't my point was only what mr.Boomer confirmed that the punch shot is exactly the normal shot with different loft
