Hi Ola...
Absolutely beautiful golf course... Especially partial to the seaside holes and the beautiful sand dunes, with the path meandering its way around the dunes... that was stunning...
I never could get a feel of the firm greens, yet slower green speed... I knew how they were set up but never got the proper feel of it... nice thought process there of making them firm on the approach but slower on the speed.... If these greens were set to fast, some of the pins would be an absolute beast to get close too.... Loved the greensites and the construction of them...Just movement everywhere
Really enjoyed your offering... gorgeous course, and fun to play.... Well done sir...
Terry

First of all a thank you..... Thank you for not spoiling the natural delta terrain by throwing down a carpet of heavy rough, especially outside the confines of the playable area. Have to hand it to you Ola, you built a superb, organic plot with some well thought out "extra's" that do so much to enhance the players experience. The unobtrusive cart path with the lamp lights, the quaint little fishing harbor, the village on the hill, the driving range, strategic fencing & bridges to name just a few. The whole design reminded me of a perfect, attention to detail, model that a dedicated artist had painstakingly & lovingly created. The golf course itself plays rather easy from tees to green with little to trouble an intermediate skilled player. But, the greens themselves are where the difficulty lies in scoring well here. To be fair, those that can "stick the pin" will go low - really low..... If, like me , your approach shots aren't accurate enough, you'll find yourself negotiating huge breaks & contours that protect the "sweet zone" around the cup. Breathe a sigh of relief as you check the putting speed indicator though in the knowledge that a well planned stroke won't end up further away than you started & a par is very achievable. All in all Restinga da Marambaia rivals my current favorite; Scampi's - Costa De La Reina & I for one am glad I'm not judging this competition. The very best of luck to you Ola, Sam.

I pretty much agree with all the previous comments about the course. But I'd also like to add, Ola, that I hate you. Your greens are some of the craziest funniest stressing piece of land I never played as a golf course. They simply kept kicking me down under. I loved them, so I hate you for not letting me score a bit better. J/K my friend, I don't hate you... still, maybe after three more rounds

Scenery, planting, sculpting, hole routing. Everything here is top notch. There we're alot of excellent green shapes/bunker combinations here that I really enjoyed. You've also made some really smart decisions with the firmness settings and green speeds to make this a fair course while still being an interesting test. The only thing I can fault you on its fairway width, but I think that boils down to designer preference. I agree with SAM, the judges are boned.

Figured as the final course in the competition is now published, I'd give this a little bump.
Thank you for the feedback I've received so far.

Not all do, but it was a conscious decision going in. I wanted to add a different challenge and the greens were it. I did not want a chipping contest and I did not want to give golfers a gimmie on every hole. I wanted a course where the golfer went for a short makeable birdie putt instead of a hole out or the rough. Did I succeed? Others can decide First of all a thank you..... You are very welcome. I've always felt the delta was difficult to work with and the only way to make it work for me has been to cover up the natural terrain. This time around I felt it belong. So it stayed. Glad you liked it! I pretty much agree with all the previous comments about the course. But I'd also like to add, Ola, that I hate you. Very fun! Oh and btw. The "cart paths" on the course are intended as walkways for non golfers and a way for the crew to get around the course with their machines. This is a walking only course. Any Olympic rings or whatever will be added in case of an unlikely win

Loved this course Ola. Absolutely stunning in my book. Visually it looked Breakers inspired and it competes excellently with that course... It's one of my favourites but I wouldn't like to pick between that and this.
I actually enjoyed the greens as well but did feel on occasion that they were a little bowl like with getting close being frustratingly difficult. The odd bank helping the player wouldn't go amiss.
Hole 9 was fun (working from memory so may be another hole), scooted my 3 wood approach up to just off the green short of the pin and chipped in for eagle. The holes near the water with the path alongside the delta sands looked stunning.
Great work mate

I must admit that with the general lack of feedback compared to other threads and with some very negative ones coming in from elsewhere I was starting to think I missed the mark completely. Pins can be moved and with this setup I tried to limit any tap in birdies on any Par 3 or 4. There are ways to get close, but with the slower greens the way to the cup is not always obvious. Looking forward to yours. Currently on the 3rd course on the tour.

No worries. Wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it. I loaded the course up on the tour just to see what the tee shot looked like but couldn't walk away. It must be a love/hate course, think mine certainly is by looks of things

Wow, what a rollercoaster! I finished -2, but only due to the fact that I missed the green horribly on 1 and flopped in, holed it from a greenside bunker on 4 and flopped my approach in on 8 too! The fact that I only made 6 pars the entire round shows that there are definitely scores to be had on this track, I just couldn't make those putts. Putting one in the pond on 3 didn't help matters either, but I don't think I've enjoyed fighting for a score this much in a while! In short, in terms of sheer playability, this course is right up there.
On the other hand, the visuals didn't really quite do it for me for the most part. Some holes, particularly those by the ocean, were fantastic, but the blending between heavy rough and natural terrain always strikes me as odd, especially when it seems that (especially early on) the heavy rough was very straight edged. I did, however, stop to admire many views so I can't complain too much, and a lot of this negativity is just down to my dislike and confusion towards the delta theme.
What a blast I had though, best of luck in the competition!

Just finished this course and really enjoyed it. Only the skilled players are going to score low here. The greens are a test to say the least. But I like that! No easy birdie here unless your under 2 feet. The hole design is superb, and the natural look of the landscape is great. I loved the ocean side holes! I played in a hurricane, and only managed -2, with a couple bogeys. Not a good score for me, but that doesn't take away from how well this course is done. I also agree with the previous comments on toning down the green speed...that was a very smart choice. Anyway, fantastic job and good luck to you in the contest. I'm sure we are going to see this as a tour stop on one of the top tours.

I struggled mightily on this course ola. I thought from tee to green and visually this was a top notch course. The greens for me I thought were well thought out I just felt there was a few too many pins on serious slopes, this isn't a knock on your design as it's what you intended, it's just a personal preference. I like a lot slopes on greens just some moderately flat ground within 5 feet. All in all great work and wonderful use of the delta theme.
