One of the things on the both of the majors and the web.com tour says you lose your tour card (ie get demoted) if you miss 5 tournaments in a row. Does this mean if you miss 5 cuts in a row or just don't play in the tournaments at all 5 times in a row?

Must be if you dont play at all. They cant demote you if you just miss the cut.

Yeah, as long as you play, you are safe. What we want to avoid is people who are inactive eating up spots on the tour when there are active people in web.com who would love to be in that spot. Of course, we understand that there are legitimate reasons for needing to take an extended leave from the game and we just ask that you email us with that information in advance and will consider each case on its merits.

Thanks. And technically an organization could demote a player for missing the cut a set number of times in a row, but I'm glad you guys don't do that. Although in real life, it might be a good thing. If you're missing cuts you aren't getting paid. Which would mean you can't compete at your current level so demotion might just mean you start getting paid.

If I miss 5 cuts in a row, I will have to answer to the MRS long before the league weighs in. No income for 5 weeks, plus all my expenses...

That's not to say you won't get demoted if you are one of the bottom players...we have said all along the bottom finishers in Fed Ex points will have to compete in the Web.com tour finals to earn their card for next season. But we won't be pulling cards from people for missing cuts mid-season, so far as I am aware.
