My Contest for the TGCTLive Olympics golf course entry is now published. Enjoy....... 6812 yards. Medium fairways, firm greens, 158 green speed. Yes the greens are firm, but it is not fast, nor is it long, it's longer than I wanted due to contest restrictions, but it is not long by a long shot. Watch for friendly helpers on some of the greens to get you close to the hole. Rio Vista Golf Club by BoomBoom

That 5th fairway just looks evil

That 5th fairway just looks evil Fairways are soft to prevent the rocket bounce near the green, so the fairway plays just fine, or there is a shorter bailout option as well. So I'm playing the course first time since publishing, boom HN1 on 7, ghost I'm playing with HN1 on 11, 2 plays 2 HN1's already.

The first score shot on the PS4 is +22 so it seems like its a fairly tough course. Going to give it a play now and hopefully top the leaderboard for now

Nice course BoomBoom, I managed to shoot -4 despite some awful putting. Playing on the Euro Tour I've become so used to fast greens that I actually struggle more on slower greens now.

Loved it Bryan.....very interesting course.... that boardwalk alone must have took ages... great addition
I was all over the place front side, finally settled down on the back and made a bunch of birdies to finish -3 ....I had several bogies and I believe a double or triple of the front side... one was on a par four where I tried to bounce the ball off a rock to make it across the water... missed the friggen rock... lol
outstanding design sir...

Another fabulous course.. That tee shot on 5 is narly if you get a high right to left crosswind.. Ouch.. I loved 7 (elevated par 3) and 8 (short par 4) I had a high headwind on 8 so I had to lay up but nice design on that hole.. #9 is just brutal.. I birdied it but that hole will cause some big numbers in the wrong kinds of wind.. 16 is gorgeous.. What a neat little hole.. Beautiful Course..

THX so much guys, that right there keeps me in the designer.
The boardwalk, I'm embarrassed to say took over 14 hours. I broke it up over the period since the beginning of the contest and it never got finished until a couple of days ago. Came up with the idea a while ago, started one in another course, and never got around to finishing that project. But the boardwalk was where I would start every design session, and used the boardwalk building while I thought up other hole ideas or ran out of ideas.

What a beauty of course, very well thought, strategically demanding, plays fair, but you must earn your birdies. Very well done!!!. And those rocks in the water, simply amazing!!!

Everybody may as well enjoy this one, white tees are now published, it's softer, shorter and high noon. Enjoy.
6400 yards Medium Firmness 158 green speeds.
Yeah it's short, however I suspect it will still provide a challenge for many players.
I was looking for a short course, a short course with course management options, eagle opportunities for those that dared take on the hole.
This course was always intended to be designed as firm and short, however I did not see it as fair to give a white tee resort course with firm greens, so greens have been softened up.

Fantastic course BoomBoom. Some terrific artwork. It played beautifully aswell. Played it with no aids and shot -9. Skip to around 2 hours on this Twitch broadcast (link in brackets) if you like to watch others play your course.

Sorry about the buzzing noise and the incoherent drunken chitter chatter.

Yo Bryan boomboom - I finally had the chance to play your course and I had a great time From an aesthetic standpoint the design is exquisite: a near perfect plantation (I'm a fan of tidy and neat plantation works) coupled with the fantastic rock work and water management/placement creates an unbelievable atmosphere; you almost feel like you are actually in Brazil. Light source management is amazing too - zero annoying shadows on the greens but also a perfectly clear view of every key element contributes to underline the beauty of the course and to build an immersive environment. That's a work of art. I didn't get a couple of minor things though; maybe some visual glitch on my system (?). On hole #1 there's some kind of patio back of the green; I loved it and zoomed in just to discover a row of tables "inside it" - the 3d models penetrates themselves so from close range it is not a nice and polished view. Then on hole 2#, left of the fairway, there's a structure made of two little staircases rested against each other: I don't know if you were trying to create some ancient ruin-like site but I didn't like it (just personal taste - sorry). Also on hole #5 (and I believe this is a glitch) there's a TGC branded barrier on top of a pile of rocks Last detail I didn't like was your flower signature "BB" on hole #17 - it is a very nice touch but the B's are not symmetrical so the harmony of the composition is ruined and it stands out in a not very good way in my opinion (I'm picky I know). Other than those tiny little details the design is truly a masterpiece. Bunker sculpting is at state of the art and so fairway and green sculpting - and there's a ton of beautiful details too all around: prize care for a HIO, little bridges here and there, retaining walls, the red lighthouse, the Olympic rings and the podium..just beautiful The best part of your course though is how it plays. I followed your train of thoughts on the forums about the firmness balance of a course and I totally agree with you on the matter. With Rio Vista Golf Club I think you've accomplished on of the best firm courses I've played. It's all about the balance and there's where your course truly shines. The combination of green, rough and fairway firmness creates always a nice and fair challenge; as the 18th holes unfold you'll either find yourself with large greens when you can perfectly plan rollout or little strips of land cleverly placed in exchange for a tucked pin or a small green - just brilliant. What I loved the most though is the routing of the approach shots, where it also comes out what a terrific TGC player you are. Almost every green have little to huge slopes that a very clever shot could greatly benefit for, plus there're slopes helping you to stop the ball and slopes to give it that backspin that is unfortunately not built-in the game. Very well done. The only thing I didn't quite loved about your routing on this course is the lack of risk/reward shots from tee to green. There're some tee shots that needs thought, of course, but it would have been great to see more of those "get over this pond/bunker if you have the balls" shots or those vegetation holes to cut inside with a perfect placed bomb from the tee. Minor things aside it plays amazingly and I've instantly added to my fav list - a 9.5 out of 10 for me. Great job!! Onto my round (this time on the footage I've added a little bit of fan-cheering in post production; sometimes it worked like a charm, sometimes not but I had great fun overall hope you enjoy it)

Thank you very much for this.
Well played.
I do agree with the criticisms, I focussed to much on providing 18 very different holes, playability of firmness, and made quite a few mistakes esthetically along the way.

Really enjoyed my round on here. I liked the quirk of two par 3s in a row. The greens were good fun and the course played really well. A couple of greens gave me a little déjà vu but it was the big sweeping backstop greens which were very fun so it's all good.
The beach and plot in general look amazing so well done, very strong entry
