Hey everyone! How in the world do these people should sub 60 rounds. I feel like my average is around a 65-68 and I might leave 1-2 shots out there. If the wind is over 5 mph the game gets so hard and putting is so inconsistent within the game for up hill and downhill putts. I have played 4 practice rounds on Copper Creek and that course is the toughest ive ever played so how are these people still going to post a sub 60 round. do people cheat or what do they do to shoot so low! ? I feel like im a better golfer in real life then on the golf club.... Coop (Dynaamiic)

Coop, It's just a combination of skill and lots of practice. Most of the good players know how to putt extremely well. Don't get discouraged. Just try to compete within yourself, and if you get a tour card just strive to get better, make cuts, and beat your goals. That's my motto anyway! If you want to play with the more casual players and want to play less stiffer competition -- you can always opt to go the "Champions" tour route. But I would suggest sticking it out and trying your best on one of the tours.

I'm sitting first overall after two rounds. It was pure luck on my end. The putts just went in even when I shanked them a little. That and low winds helped a lot. Trust me when I say it could shoot a 59 one round and 72 the next. Keep practicing!

Coop (Dynaamiic) Not sure how long you have been around but some have been here since beta testing, only way to "cheat" is the straight shooter. These will be caught easily and all will be moved off the leaderboard. Putting only seems inconsistent now for you, you will learn and read tips, a few have posted putting tips here tgctours.proboards.com/thread/738/downhill-putts
We all struggled at first, a few months ago there were only a scant few people who could shoot sub 60, there are plenty more now as people are starting to get the game down better now.
In the early days the game kept changing as well, went from really easy, to really hard and settled in the middle now, players playing through that have a knowledge and experience advantage, an advantage quickly eroding as people get better. If you are shooting 65, lower scores will come with time, but like all of us, you will have good days and bad days.
Putting is not as inconsistent as it seems, but like RLG, you will have rounds where everything goes in and you see the line automatically, and the next round where everything lips out and you struggle to see the line. That's normal and happens to everyone.
In addition the game has remained consistent for a number of months now, so some are doing what's necessarily to get better. Smart practice, not just play more, but practice properly, just like we all should in RLG as well, but most don't, some do. Those that stand on the range and beat balls and record shots have an advantage over those that just play. Those that stand on the practice putting green for hours have an advantage over those who do not. Proper practice is not cheating.
I myself have spent far more time on my ranges then actually playing any course by a 5-1 margin. I'm likely in the practice category up there with Vjay. It's boring as hell, but it pays off when push comes to shove. When I hit the tee-box, I'm ready mentally and physically and have a game plan for the course and seldom veer off it. I play proper course management techniques, when I stand on the tee of most courses, I'm standing on it already -4 or more depending on the par 4's All it takes is some good putts and the score goes down from there.
We all approach this game differently, none are wrong, some approaches are better than others IMHO. Its golf, the more I practice the luckier I get. Strange how that works. great game this is, best yet bar none.
Finally, best advice I can give, is stop worrying about what others may or may not be doing, let others whose job that is to worry about that, they are, they are on it, they are smart as well and have everything under control, just worry about yourself and what you are doing and especially what you need to do.
Take care and have fun.

Great stuff Steve! Quick question (that may not be super quick at all): What have you build as far as practice ranges? I believe I read somewhere that a good way to practice is to build a "practice course" and then go in and play it within the editor so that you can replay shots, move the ball around to practice from different places, etc. I wondered what people ended up doing as far as creating courses to practice on. I would love it if you would talk a little about your practice courses and your routines, if it isn't too much trouble.

Well without getting into game and checking exactly, I built one for each and every club. The hole is at the exact yardage for each club including rollout. I have published some of these for use in wind, and use the designer for no wind. I have measured what I need to do to swing at various powers, how far each goes from every lie and various powers, lofts as well. Wind effect etc. The exact miss yardages as well. Sometimes my misses are more, sometimes less, depends on day, but I'm ready for everything. by doing this I know for each club, a few things, how far will my miss will take me off line, how far my miss in power whether on purpose on by accident will affect my shot.
I practice missing as well, can I miss on purpose, can I intentionally miss with consistency. I'm getting better with practice. I have a long way to go though.
All ranges are all green and dead flat.
For putting I have again several dead flat greens that I will adjust to various breaks and lengths and practice for hours. I also practice the miss again, what happens and when, can I miss on purpose what happens with various misses, can I find something consistent. If I do this what happens, that what happens. I'm constantly asking questions looking for answers and do not stop till I have the answer.
I use these again and amend, I might add rough, bunkers, get into different lies and percentage lies and practice and have noted lots, but not everything I admit, enough is enough so to speak, again I will look for the miss as well and compare the differences, is there some consistency to be found. Chip pitch flop, different lofts, misses as well again.
If I play one day and struggle or find a shot I have not practiced or I'm unclear what to do, I will recreate later and practice best options. So next time I'm ready. Is it 6 whispering, the shot just before and below the green. I maxed that hole one day, the ball goes up and comes back to your feet. Never again my friends never ever again will that occur anywhere.
I have done pretty much every shot, every scenario hundreds if not thousands of times.
The game says I have 500 rounds it did reset before, so including range time, and I also have several full courses in my designer I will play often, I would not think it unreasonable to multiply that by 50 or so.
So to anyone out there, when you see me go below 60, and wonder why, or wonder how, compare the above to yourself and say, oh, that's why, that's how. The more I practice, the luckier I get. :-)

I would love it if you would talk a little about your practice courses and your routines, if it isn't too much trouble. I think i'm pretty decent at putting but my problem is stopping the ball on faster greens. Obviously the answer is adding a little loft and hitting the ball short of the flag to let it roll and hopefully grab, but as I posted on another thread, it is hit n miss at times. I have had shots where i have raised the loft of a 5 iron all the way up as far as it could go, hit the perfect shot to just on the front of the green only to have it roll 100+ feet on not a severely sloped green. My putt back was only up 5 inches. I see ghost images of people who hit the same place and it almost stops immediately and i'm not sure how. To me this is the most important part of the game I'm lacking. If i can get at 15 foot putt instead of a 35 foot putt my scores will be dramatically lower. Nice putting write up btw.

putting is so inconsistent within the game for up hill and downhill putts. Coop (Dynaamiic) This is the biggest problem I have with this game, specifically uphill putts. I have been playing on XB1 since release day and I still can't figure out uphill putting. I have downhill down pat, no problem. But with uphill putts I get such inconsistent results. I can have a 10ft long putt that is +2 inches uphill and hit the same power over and over and sometimes it will stop 2ft short and other times will roll 15ft past the hole. It drives me absolutely crazy, so much so that I try to leave myself with downhill putts on all my approach shots lol.

Thr is a section on HB forums on putting. Will help u a lot. But ur right, HB should hv helped us better on how putting works in the game. Shouldnt have been a forum thing. On main website there should hv been a section for putting. Gm could hv used a training how to powr, putting, chipping, etc. Would hv sold more copies if thy did.

As usual, we have the "low scores = cheat" argument. Ever thought that people are just good ?
