Loosing my freaking mind over this.
My mic will only pick up the loudest sounds. Like if I smack my hand on it. I've tried everything and nothing has worked. I've read and watched everything on the topic but cannot get it resolved.
Windows 10 (x64)
3.5mm plug in type microphones Same issue with bluetooth mic
I've tried:
Multiple mics front panel back panel roll back realtek driver uninstall realtek driver re-install realtek driver adjusted levels in sound setting adjusted settings in realtek sound manager

Realtek has a mic boost setting yeah? Is that enabled? If it's on board sound have you tried updating the Bios?
One thing I read when looking into this was:
Go to C:\Program Files\Realtek\InstallShield Locate the program MicCal.exe and execute it •1st window : Click Next •2nd window: Select the recording device (if like mine there's only "Realtek HD Front Pink Jack" available anyway) •3rd window : HERE'S WHERE I THINK EVERYTHING HAPPENDS  ... Try speaking and almost no sound will get thru the VU-Meter. Now MOVE the slider left to 0% THEN BACK TO 100%. Click next. •4th window : It will ask you to read alound a sentence after clicking the "Record" button. Do it.... You might receive an error message. Don't mind it and click the "Cancel" button.
Supposedly that "reset" this guys mic.
Hope that helps...maybe not.

oh well. just throwing out ideas. What did you do? I appreciate it. I disabled mic permission for the Xbox app and it started working properly. Makes no sense but it's the only thing I changed. I don't own an Xbox or use the app so no idea what it would do with anything or why I even tried it. Computers are weird and stupid. Thanks for the suggestion, if nothing else it got me back to trying to find a fix.
