My goal was to shoot -6 to -8 on Mount Yeti, Whispering River and Crawford, throw in -2 to -4 on Copper Creek, Son Gual and Kodiak to end up around -25. Ended up with this: Mount Yeti: -10 Whispering River: -17 (still dont know how that happened) Copper Creek: -4 Son Gual: -6 (Bogied the last, was being greedy trying to chip in for birdie and almost lost the ball down the slope) Kodiak: -6 Crawford -6 (Only double bogey came on the 3rd after chipping and flopping up and back down the slope to the right of the green) Total score: -49 ,Twice as good as I'd hoped for!!!! Great round on Whispering and great tourney. -17 must be a course record there. Thanks Coruler. It is the course record on PS4, I think the record was -15. Interested to see if my Kodiak Light course record from a practice round last week will hold up, that was -10. Holed a ton a long birdies and pars in that round.

Dropped 4 shots on crawford 16th due to miscalculation,Hit one shot and it went in the water and i thought hmm how did that happen. So hit the next shot ,same again in the water and then i looked at the elevation and noticed i miss calculated thinking it was 20 something yds down instead of 10-12 can't exactly remember the right elevation but that pissed me off a bit..Other than that great tourny enjoyed it alot..

Not that I ever considered myself in contention to win or even be in the Top 10 of Q-School, but I'm all but out after Round 1. For some reason, it's nearly impossible for me to hit 100% in the Links Theme, and the Links Theme only. Between that and 20mph winds, my -2 round feels like one of the best rounds in the tournament.
Seriously, if anyone is up for a fun round at Mt. Yeti, use my ghost ball, lol.

There was little press or galleries interested in seeing what a 51 year old journeyman pro was doing following his dream of playing on the PGA Tour. After a grueling 6 round test in Q-School the dream of moving beyond the Champions Tour still has a flicker of hope.
Round 1 @ Mount Yeti: After two months of practice, my best round I had managed was a -3 (69), so going in it was my hope to just not shoot a high number. To my great astonishment, I had gotten it to -4 through the first 8 holes. However the euphoria was short lived, three consecutive three putt bogies at 9, 10 and 11, brought me back to earth. Somehow, I was able to regroup, and play the last 7 holes in 2 under to finish with a respectable 69.
Round 2 @ Whispering River: After the opening 69, I thought that there might be a chance to sneak into one of the coveted 250 spots on a main tour. Especially since in recent practice rounds at Whispering River I had shot 63 and 64. However heading to the first tee, there were winds at a velocity and direction I had not encountered, and shots that I thought I knew seemed totally unfamiliar. Managed to scramble for 5 pars to open the round, but a double bogie at 6 put me on the defensive. Never was able to really recover and struggled through for a +3 (75) to go to EVEN par through two rounds. Knowing that the hardest tests were yet to come, I began to feel like even a Web.com tour card was slipping out of my reach.
Round 3 @ Copper Creek: Everything I had been hearing in the locker room was that Copper Creek may be the wild card in the Q-School, and that many said it would serve as a separating round. I knew that a decent round may give me some hope. The winds were mild in the 5 - 10 mph range generally so it was quite manageable. After some early miscues I had it up to +3 early in the round, but began to regroup with some late birdies to finish at even par 71. At the time 57 players had finished their third round on PS4 and that even par placed tied for 13th in the round, so I felt pretty good about my showing there. At the half way point of the Q-School managed to remain even par.
Round 4 @ Son Gaul: Another course where I have not had a lot of success. My practice rounds were just as likely to be 3 or 4 over par as 2 or 3 under par. With clear skies and light winds, the fourth round began. Got off to a good start for me and was a couple under through 6. Then something clicked, and suddenly nothing could go wrong. Approach shots were finishing close, putts were falling, and before I knew it I stood at the 18th tee at 9 under par. One shot off the current leader on PS4 on the course at the time. I hit a lay up off the tee, and left myself with perfect distance after the 2nd shot, and my approach left me about 6 feet for birdie. The putt slide off the left side of the hole and had to settle for -9 (63). T2 of 43 PS4 players at the time. I came off the round feeling that I made up a lot of ground in the round, and with a good finish over the final two rounds, that maybe we could squeeze into the top 250. -9 through 4 rounds.
Round 5 @ Kodiak Reserve: Had not had the opportunity to spend a lot of practice time at Kodiak, but from what I had played figured I could go one or two under. Started well for me, no bogies through the first six, but no birdies either. It was at some point during the round after hearing John the commentator say for what felt like the 50th time in the event "Oooooh so close" that I began to realize I had been missing putts just to the left or just to the right of the cup all throughout the event. Then I started to over-read putts and putting very defensively. From there the bogies came, at one point was up to +5, but again some late birds gave me a +2 (74) for the round. This left me at -7 through five rounds. My goal was to finish -6 or better for the Q-School, and thought that -10 might be good enough for the top 250 depending on the number of players who finish all 6 rounds.
Round 6 @ Crawford Mines: 18 holes to go, and all the practice and practice would be over. Stepping on the tee I saw winds raging at 17 miles an hour. In my practice rounds I had not seen winds like that on this course. It was late, and I could have waited, but I believe you play the hand you're dealt, and pushed on. With the winds and the hazards looming, I was not able to give myself many birdie opportunities. Also I tended to find myself with the ball either above or below my feet, and the wind blowing the opposite direction at 15 - 18 miles per hour. I was very unsure which would have the greater effect, and I would aim wider out than normal, missing greens by fractions. Even with all that, I was able to make a number of scrambling pars, and in the end finished the round at +3 (74). This made the 6 round total -4. Based on the players that had already turned in scores on PS4, I was still in the top third, so if it holds up, I may be able to achieve the Web.com tour. Now sitting on pins and needles and watching the leaderboards closely.

Wow, never been so nervous playing a video game.
Got -11 and -9 first two rounds. That is a LOAD off my shoulders for the final rounds. A little better than I usually shoot on these courses and I owe it all to the low winds, taking my time and only playing one round a day and LOTS of practice.
Loving this format, if all goes well Ill get my Tour Card. Knock on wood...
Good luck out there!

Wow, just played Whispering River. Been practicing last two days in strong wind, light wind and today suddenly there was almost no wind and it was blowing in a direction I hadn't played before. Still birde on the first..but after that my putter failed me. Only -1 after 12. I missed about 6 putts under 8 feet and was so very dejected. But then came the blitz, two eagles and birdied out for a -9, 63 and was very happy. Should have been more like -12 to -15 but i'll take it.
-14 after 2 rounds.
Time to practice Copper creek.

Just finished my practice round at Copper Creek. Holy jeepers. If I shoot -2 under on this course i'll be ecstatic. What a difficult course and yet I know it is playable cause one of the ghosts played -12. Sheesh.

I shot -24 over all 6 rounds. I think it was something like -8 -6 -2 -7 E -1. I played Crawford Mines at 17MPH and finished under par. I'll take it. I ended up with a triple at Copper Creek on one of the par 4s. That stung a bit but I got that round under par, too. Kodiak I just plain hate (sorry taste I'm all for fast and firm, but front pins over a hazard or bunker with a green that slopes away and no ability to stop the ball anywhere near the cup on most holes is a design philosophy i disagree with. That, and rabbit in the fairway. But I digress. It was really fun. I probably should have practiced more, because I play Yeti, Whisp River and Son Gual quite a bit and my scores showed it. Great fun all in all. Can't wait for tournament play, fingers crossed for the one i want.

Very happy with -24 for my six rounds. Steady first two rounds 66+65 but then stuttered at Copper Creek with a 73 and followed up with -2. Think I made a lot of ground at Kodiak as low winds and putts holed had me top of the PS4 table with -7 after 17 before a double left me -5 but still a good round. Good all round play at Crawford for -6 left me with four personal best rounds out of the six so I'll take that. Amazing how nervous I felt playing,so much better than just knocking it round, hopefully enough for the Euro tour and more excitement for next year!
