So, where about does it look like the Web.com cut line will be?
I did not have a good Q-School. My practice rounds where going so good, I thought I had a real shot at making the PGA. Then a few other games came out (GTA V, Dragon Age, Far Cry) and TGC slipped my mine. So, I started my Q-School after not touching the game for a few weeks and I paid for it.
My first round was good, with a -3 but it was false hope. Posted a +7 for round 2 and a +8 for round 3, 2 of my worst rounds since the first few weeks of the games release. It's like I was having to learn to putt all over again. Bounced back a little with a -1 in round 4. Round 5 was a +6 and then scrapped together a -1 for round 6. That leaves me at +16 for the tournament.

Son Gual – Thursday 12/11 – As we get into the hottest part of the day (and the tour) here in the desert, we have another chance to look at a breakdown by platform. We also have our first chance to really measure the effects of the 100+ new players over the last few days. We have so much statistical information in this column that my editor asked me to split it into two columns noting we could milk the information for several days. I said NO, because my readers deserve as much information as possible as soon as possible, and will cram it all into today’s feature. Hopefully I have a job after today. The average scores continue to go up, partly due to course difficulty, partly due to pressure, and most noteworthy due to the new golfers showing up on the tee. Whispering River looks like it could be the only course under par for the field. Mount Yeti – 72.69 (580 players) Whispering River – 71.35 (96%) Copper Creek – 75.24 (92%) Son Gual – 72.99 (86%)
Top 250 Cut (PGA/Euro): -1 (One player away from being -2) Top 450 Cut (Web.com): +20So why the movement of the top 250 towards -2 the last few days? As I noted I expected about 2/5 of the new golfers to shoot better than the 250th place cut line. For once my prognosis was spot on. Going back to last Friday, we have had 103 new players tee it up to start their rounds at Mount Yeti. Of those 41 have shot better than -1 (exactly 2/5). That single handedly has pushed the cut line deeper into red numbers. It will be interesting to see if that 2/5 ratio continues with new golfers going forward. If so, those near the bubble had better keep their focus down the stretch. Interestingly, the XBOX One has seen the greatest dearth of talent arrive on the first tee. 7 new players have placed themselves within the top 50 having just started their tours this week. 6 of those players are on xbox completely changing the scope of the Tournament of Champions field. These new players are not helping the overall average against par though, as 18 of the bottom 50 have also just started their rounds this week on tee #1. As you can see on the below graph, new golfers (since last Friday) have an average of 2 additional strokes per round than the overall average. In addition to the key races in the middle for PGA US, European, and Web.com cards, there is a race at the top to qualify for the prestigious Tournament of Champions in January. As was announced this week, the top 30 (and ties), plus anyone in the top 10 on their given platform will qualify for the TOC. As you can see below that is quite a few names. The names in red are the ones new to the tour since last week. With two rounds to go it will be interesting to see who stays on this list and who succumbs to the pressure. This above list also contains the overall participants and averages for all golfers on the given platforms. When last reviewed, the xbox had a slight lead on the computer golfers, with PS4 lagging behind. While PS4 still lags behind, the PC golfers have taken over bragging rights, although all scores have gone up. PS4 players continue to make up over 50% of the participants. I am putting on my long underwear as we speak and boarding a flight for Kodiak Island. Looking forward to bringing you the big weekend news before we wrap up early next week at Crawford Mines. This marathon of a tour is quickly becoming a sprint. Certainly several players won’t be able to keep the pace, while some may have game in reserve to surge ahead. Til tomorrow from Alaska.

That's very true. Guess I'm gonna check out the leaderboard on my system when I get home from work. I gotta see if and where these guys ahead of me ended up after 6 rounds.

I have intentionally not played Crawford yet so I can see how hyper aggressive I have to be. -10, or +4 no in between...

Xbox 1 table, is Tim Gray (XB1- precisionputter) and Timmy Gray (XB1 - precisionofe)the same person, playing the tour twice, with different usernames, seems a bit suspect, however I am sure there are others out there playing the tour on PC and a console as well.

I'm with Blitzer on this. I noticed the other day but it slipped my mind to bring it up on here. I would be disappointed, to say the least, if one gamer takes up two spots and keeps me or someone else out of a tourney/tour. Not sure how this could be seen as a fair circumstance. Hopefully this will be fixed before next Tuesday.

I have a feeling the cut line will drop quite a bit. 270 have finished so far on PS4 and only 86 are under par, maybe Crawford wasn't as kind to everyone either? just checked the pc results 108 have finished the tour, 54th is +4 and pingzing is the last person under par at -1 sitting in 51st place
