Linden by the Lake is open for play.
Just north of 7000 yards.
Greens very receptive, speed set at 145.
This is my attempt at a woodland course, and I decided to set it during the Harvest season. The shadows are long, but the weather is still warm. Lots of chances for aggressive play, I expect a lot of low numbers.
I think I'm most please with my one-shotters here, but I think all of my design work has matured. There is room for gripping and ripping, shot shaping, as well as holding back a little to assure yourself of a birdie.
I would be most grateful if you would give it a whirl and let me know what you think. And I know Karma will swoop in and do his thing shortly. Thanks in advance, sir.
Happy hacking,
John

I played this last night and really enjoyed my round here. Open fairways, nice lighting, nice planting, greens were done well. I think your description nails what this course is. There is a grip it and rip it feel here, and there are times where you should think about some shot shaping or clubbing down. Nice work here. Thank you for your time and keep building us some more.

I agree with Bassman, your description sums this up perfectly and I had a smashing time plotting my route around here. Lots to like about the combination of open fairways and the richness of the autumn trees and there's a couple of distinctive ideas in the bunkering which interested me - wasn't sure what to make of the long, thin groups along the final four holes, some of them looked cool others were perhaps not to my taste but some folks will really like the look and it crops up throughout the course as a theme. However the steeply raised bunkering was another theme - quite daring and it works so well especially when combined with matching contours in the greens to add difficulty as in hole 3 which was a cracker. Some interesting tee shots too - fantastically implemented and just the right amount of shot shaping to get me thinking. Nice use of long grass on holes 3 and 5 too. And plenty of memorable holes in general - holes 4, 6, 7 and 13 all have great stuff going on from massive greens to island fairways and some of the green sculpting was understated but really quite impressive - in particualr hole 4 where the green is perfect for a par 5, I made the shot and rolled back for an eagle but it took two perfect shots to get in that position. And hole 13, a nice island green that was fun to navigate with the putter. Overall, this is definitely worth a play, even if the slow greens make it a bit on the easy side - a very enjoyable style to look at and plenty of fun to be had. And the lighthouses in Karma's pic looked nuts but it immediately made sense as oast houses on the course, haha, nice idea. Thanks for the course and I've noticed your others which I'll be taking a look at. Cheers

Hey john, I'll start by saying I don't appreciate that Yankees symbol for your profile pic when I went to load up the course but I won't hold it against you or the corse . Really enjoyed the course. I really like the variety of tee shots, as well as, approach shots. The greens were very well done and the overall land sculpting and flow of the course is excellent. I thought overall the planting was solid, aside from a few random huge grass plantings that if they were dense would probably look alright but that is a very minor thing and did not detract from the round. I really liked the bunkering, very interesting and unique. Great course for anyone, enough challenge for higher skill levels, but nothing that will kill you if you're just learning the game. Nice work john, keep it up and thanks for your efforts.
