The first course I have finished/published for TGC. A 7377 yard, par 72 (4/10/4) set deep in the lowlands of the countryside this challenging course is built into the area's natural terrain. The firm fairways will give competitors good rolls but careful shot placement is a must to avoid awkward follow-up shots and difficult putts on the quick greens. Careful club choice, spin control, and respect for the course are musts when approaching the greens. The course is a bit sparse/quick'n'dirty when it comes to aesthetic amenities but a good amount of time was spent constructing the holes so I hope everyone enjoys the challenge the course brings. This course has been submitted, and is awaiting review, on TGCTours.com. Apologies for the lack of pictures, I found the screenshot function to be about as intuitive and cooperative as it is easy to reverse navigating a golf cart through a hedge maze made of mirrors. Edit: So, just for clarification in case people didn't catch on, this is simply a challenge course. This is not meant to be a representation of a real course, and simply relies on the design to present a challenging experience within the game. If you want a representation of a course, look at me other courses.

Hi Veral!
Just played this one.... not sure where to start but we all have to start somewhere right? Ill lead with a question
Is this completely auto generated? meaning did you allow the designer to lay down the entire 18 holes and then you build the terrain around it? If not I apologize but it looks completely auto generated... There are sharp terrain details that needed definite smoothing all over the course.. the bridge on 2 was very nice.... On three I believe it was there is a bunker at the approach shot built on the side of what appears to be a small mountain.... I suggest studying some video tutorials on course construction...and pick up some tricks and tips from those, they help tremendously...
There are details on the courses that there is no possible way they could exist in real life.... Just practice practice practice....Itll come...I could see what you attempted to do with the course, but it just fell a bit short construction wise....I hope you don't take this constructive criticism the wrong way, trust me I got my share of some on the first course...Just pointing to some different areas to study and learn some tricks of the trade... don't give up, keep at it.. itll come once you get used to the tools

I tried to leave some of the early bunkers shallow through the first few holes in order to give players a chance to acclimate themselves to the speeds/firmness of the greens before punishing misses but they convert over to full bunkers as the round gets going. It's designed so that someone far better than I am at this game can have an enjoyable, fair challenge where shooting between Even and 3-4 Over is a good round. As I said before, there weren't many visual amenities added after the fact besides a bridge, which was way to much work for something that can only look so~so at best, and the clubhouse. There were a few other places where I would have liked to add in some other buildings for detail but the course designer is really just for the course and is distinctly lacking in models. Edit: Hey, I was just wondering, how did you shoot (or did you not finish the course)? I just went to see how others were shooting in comparison but it shows 0 plays by anyone other than me.

I would suggest you check out the videos that Canuck has on YouTube about course design. I think you'll find some things that will really enhance your designing.

I'll check them out as I have some time over the next couple of days. I know, this course is a bit on the "ugly/choppy" side. I didn't care so much about how it looked or if it could really be made and simply focused on how it played and where it challenged players. I have another course in the works currently dubbed "Pinecrest Resort - Club Open" that has a plausible-for-use layout. Al-bit a couple of long cart paths around and up the back side of a hill or two on that one, but do-able (just not with the structures/building potential given in the course editor). That should be up as I deem it "done-enough" either tonight or tomorrow. Just played a full test round on it and it plays great, just need to finalize the visual tweeks and decide if I want to bother with a cart path or not (never sure how to get those in).

Thanks for the link, I'll take a look at it. I've never really paid attention to cart paths when I'm out since I always walk the course.

Once I do, Ill post the score here Let me know when you get a chance to finish that round, for some reason I'm not seeing scores from others even though I see some plays on the course. I've played it twice, shot +17/+27. Pro tip, try to go at least one hole without hitting either the water or every bunker on the hole.
