TGCTours has another desert fantasy course. Throughout, we can see various artworks referencing "Blackstar", the song from which the course received its name. Our adventure begins at the solitary candle, winding round a lake and moving back uphill before crossing the lake under the great pair of eyes watching all that takes place. We travel through a canyon to the execution before playing on to an outcrop above the lake. We once again travel around the outside of the lake where spirit rises, as do the upcoming holes. Having negotiated a severe drop we rollercoaster our way around a huge peak, before turning to stare death in the face. We turn once more to a cliff top overlooking the lake from where we get a grand vista of most of the front nine, before playing the final shots of the round towards the star. The course plays easy-medium difficulty and hopefully can be a fun round for anyone. The total yardage is 7074 yards playing to a par of 72. Please feel free to leave some feedback about the course.

I played the course today. It's perfectly suited for the CC-tiers in my opinion. Very beautiful views (even if I'm not fond of the desert theme) and generally a smooth layout which is very nice to play. There are some teeny-tiny traps that'll get you just a taste of the sadistic nature of the madman by the name of adamhill413 You're gonna all play The Villa of Ormen and maybe think "well I'm good at this game...maybe great?!" and you'll feel ready to try something more challenging...and just like that you stumble upon The Ratel at Widow's Cross and you're gonna say "Bring it on - I'm ready" when you're truly not sir. You're gonna cry and bleed. You're gonna beg for quitting. You're gonna curse TGC and hate all living things....and on the green of 18th hole, after another bogey, the creature of darkness that designed this hellish monster will feast upon your flesh and thrive in your endless despair.

Had a good fun round at Ormen this morning, and played a blinder too shooting -13. The layout was nicely planned I thought and the course eases you in with a fairly easy front 9 before getting more difficult in the second half.
The eyes of Ormen scrutinise every move you make from the hilltops and I thought it was a fun theme for a course like this. Quite liked the star as the finale too, but didn't pay attention to the rest of the symbols tbh as I was concentrating on my round by that point. I like a course that gives out a run of early birdies to protect, it tends to draw me in to my game.
The hole design has a deliberate, consistent style which I appreciated. I liked the wide, flat-profile fairways set against the hilly landscape - yet the tee-shots still needed thought because of those elevation drops that made some landing zones a different elevation to the green ahead, forcing me to think over my club choice to avoid going long into the gaps and bunkers dividing the fairways. I thought the greens were will designed and good fun to figure out although one or two of the pins on the back 9 were tucked very tight to accept long-iron approaches - the hole 13 par 3 in particular had me scratching my head.
Visually there are some other themes running through the design which caught my eye, particularly the large flat bunkers which were beautifully crafted and encroached into the fairways to create all sorts contours and shapes.
I would recommend giving this a play as the quality of the hole design is high throughout and holes 14-17 are pretty much art and worth the price of admission alone. Thanks for making this, I'll be coming back for another go.
