Thanks for the warm welcome and advice. I will probably spend more time in the designer though. I'm already a member of Champions United Country Club so we have at least one event a week.
It was quite a hike from CC E to here. Its been a struggle but it shows that it can be done.
That's right. You designed Hua Hin I believe. It was featured recently in the RRCC tour. Nice track. I scored -11 from memory so it was kind to me I'm trying to design a difficult course. Not working lol

I played the first two rounds yesterday. I thought I was going to shoot a low score with the greens being soft, but the wind put any chance of that to the back of my mind. To be fair, I found the greens challenging and had a few hang over the hole and stay out. First round was a -7. Second round was -6. Not convinced that will make the cut. -13 will make the cut. -6 for the 2nd round is a great score. I shot an E in my 2nd round. This will be my first missed cut on the Web Tour. I had some good practice runs and hoped to go low 1st round, but a cold putter can make good intentions turn into a bad reality pretty quick. I then hoped to make up for a mediocre 1st round w/ a good 2nd round. I knew I was in for a long round when I saw 16 mph winds on the first hole.............. Good luck this week fellas.

First of all, Welcome to the Web.Com tour, BIELSALUFC ! Hard work really pays off! As for me, this is my first week on the tour as a full-time member. I practied Arctic Curse 3 times last week, with scores ranging from -8 overall to -30, so I was a little worried coming in. 1 st Round: It started off not really nicely with a bogey on the 2nd hole, a 3-putt on the green made my body temperature go up while my confidence went way down, scared to death of another cold putter week..I wish I could transfer my body temp to my putter but that's a story for another time. At the 5th hole, I was still +1 while some people were already 4 or 5 under. I told to myself well, Lino, if you want to play in the weekend, you better start hitting those balls near the pin because that putter is not going to collaborate. So it is exactly what I did, birdied the 3 following holes, par on 9th then again birdied the 3 following. In the end, I played 30 out of 36 on the back nine, which netted me a 63 score for the first round. -8 2nd Round: Once again, same situation, but this time I bogied the 1st hole. Damn winds, I knew they were going to be strong, according to various reports from other players in the locker room (which is very well isolated because I couldn't ear the gusts from the inside, actually lost my breath when going out on the course. 2nd hole, 18MPH winds in my face. Thought well, this is going to be a long round. Hopefully, it doesn't rain often in Chile because that umbrella wouldn't have finished the day. So I tried, with more or less sucess, to play simple, hit the balls in the fairway, play conservative. And it paid off. I birdied a few holes on the first nine, was -2. Then on the back nine, the winds calmed down a little, back to 8-15MPH, it was atleast a little more manageable. I don't remember exactly the hole, I think it was the 11th or 12th, but my second shot ended up a foot from the hole, nice break! The highlight of the round was definitely on the 15th: my second shot was very poor, into the wind, ended up 45 feet down 10 inches from the hole, well fair enough, I swing back, attempting to atleast climb the hill on the plateau, 15mph winds coming in my face, my cap flew off right as I was going in motion, obviously couldn't stop the motion, hit the ball way too strong and BANG, right in the hole. It gave me a big confidence boost and I went to birdie 16-17-18 to finish at 63, -8. I had to catch my breath after this round, the winds made it a very tedious and exhausting experience. It's safe to say I am really happy with a 63. So my total for the 2 first rounds is -16, which I hope will be enough to make it through the weekend. Have a nice week gentlemen. Lino.

Glad to know that I'm not the only one seeing the par-71/par-72 disconnect between the leaderboard scores, scorecard scores, and what's being posted. Yes, it appears as though the leaderboard is incorrectly posting some scores with a "71 par" and others with a "72 par".
For example, I shot a 63 for round 1, which should be a -8 for this 71-par course. I entered a 63 for my score, but the leaderboard shows that as a -9 (par-72). When clicking on my scorecard link, the scorecard correctly shows a 71-par for a score of -8.
The strange thing is, though, that this does not seem consistent for all players on the leaderboard. I clicked on the scorecards for all of the players on the leaderboard that are currently at -8, and some of them have a scorecard score of 63, while other have a score of 64.
Something strange going on here.

2nd Round: It's safe to say I am really happy with a 63. So my total for the 2 first rounds is -16, which I hope will be enough to make it through the weekend. Have a nice week gentlemen. Lino. Very nice 2nd round, Lino! I haven't played the 2nd round yet myself, but with the winds the way they are, a score of 63 sounds excellent. And with a score of -16, I'm positive that you can relax in knowing that you made the cut!

Chat away men. Even if I do get an exemption from last week which I don't deserve I will be playing this week (on Wednesday busy week) as I missed the cut off to use it on a course ive played loved and suits me. Isn't that just typical haha. I'm guessing we won't get that exemption but... full field on Euro? Y out can late register on an excemption as well

The curse of the Arctic is sure to strike Dean Huddleston. As only he can do, he blitzes a practice round, a 57 on only his 2nd attempt at the course. We all know the next part of the Huddleston horror story. 2 absolute stinker rounds and another missed cut. No doubt that by this time tomorrow the story will become true.

I just withdrew from the tournament this week. I can't seem to play this game anymore. I think I have reached my apex and don't seem to be making any improvements. I just don't get how some of the better players can tear these courses up and shoot lights out.
I don't think I can handle these greens anymore. 5 foot putts with ridiculous breaks. Miss the landing spot by a foot or two and you are off the green. I no longer find this game fun and might take a week or two break. Can anyone tell me if the courses get any easier in the coming weeks? I fully understand that the course designers need to firm things up and trick the greens out. No blame to them.
Ugghhhh, I'm really frustrated. Not looking for any sympathy here. I need to regroup.
Blahh, blah, blah, yadda, yadda, yadda.

65-70-61-68 Hopeless. I shot -43 over the four rounds in practice. I don't know if I played crap on the day or the courses were harder but I suspect the former. The 70 was really poor.

unclefester75We've all been there. I myself have been so frustrated with putting that I've almost walked away from the game. You'll turn it around. I've struggled the last 2 weeks but then that practice round just showed me what I can play like on my day and if (big if) I can do 4 in a row I have a great chance of a very high finish. Keep the faith. BillySastard976Isn't it so frustrating? Sport is at least 50 % mental IRL and obviously much more here. Somehow we have to be mentally stronger.

All too often my first two rounds are mediocre, when it really matters, then a good third round (when it doesn't matter) such as the 61,and then another mediocre round when it really REALLY doesn't matter. The secret is to play like it doesn't matter while knowing that it really does!

I was away with the fairies for the first hole of round two. I had the controller in my hand, I could see what was happening on screen but I was totally disconnected from it. It was like watching someone else play, by the time by brain caught up with the image on screen, I had dropped a shot. On hole two I noticed the wind everyone was talking about, maybe I would have been better off playing automatically with out thinking, now I had to figure out wind related problems, my first attempt at that left me forty feet from the cup, a decent lag putt brought par. I got back to even on the third, finding the fairway with both tee and approach shot brought a straight forward birdie, that's going to be key to this round, avoiding the rough and hazards. Left my first shot behind me on the fourth, a good tee shot left me with a relatively straight eight foot putt which I just did not hit, I knew as soon as I hit it, that it was going to be short, yet as the ball crawled towards the hole I could not help be hopeful it would drop, double disappointment. Finding the heavy rough from the tee on five took away any birdie chance, I tried to cut as much ground as possible and failed, happy with par. I have no idea why but I thought it would be smart to attempt the short cut through the trees on six, maybe because I really did not like the look of the fairway in that wind. Needless to say, I made a complete balls on it and found myself at the bottom of a sandy mound seventy yards away with the fear of not being able to get over it. There was nothing to do but just close my eyes and hit, when I opened them again, I was in heavy rough, ten yards from the hole and making par from there was easy. I played the wind to perfection on seven leaving a eight foot birdie chance, this time I made sure to hit it hard enough to go one under. I did not give myself any more chances on the front nine to remain one under at the turn. I think I would need to pick up a lot of shots on the back nine to make the cut.
A terrible second shot took away any birdie chance on ten, for some reason I did not play the wind at all and left myself deep in the heavy rough. A birdie left behind there I think, just needed to find the fairway for a good chance. I played a couple of poor approach shots over the next two holes failing to find the green, when I finally found a green on thirteen, a disappointing putt left another birdie behind. With that, the chances of making the cut were slowly slipping away. I came close to leaving another shot behind on fourteen, my short flop rolled back a lot further than I thought it would leaving a twelve foot but, for a change, my putting did not leave me down and I went two under. On fifteen, another good putt brought me to three under, I should have been a lot closer to the cup than I was though. I can not rely on putting to keep me in the game, it's not good enough for that. And that proved to be the case on sixteen when I left my tee shot twenty feet short, another costly mistake when every shot matters. Another par on seventeen, the last was hole where I just had to pick up a shot, the wind was the right direction, it was a case of just finding the fairway to leave a short pitch. I steadied myself for one final effort and was rewarded with ever shot going to plan and a final birdie.
I don't think eleven under is enough, I can see myself falling short by a shot or two, a shot or two that I left behind me. Despite that, that was a lot of fun, I always enjoy the challenge of the wind, when ever birdie feels like it was earned. Now the wait begins and my making the cut depends on how you guys handle the wind, good luck out there.
