Looking to move up towards the middle of the pack when I play my 4th round tonight. I suppose its fitting that i show both sides of my game in a qualifying tournament. I have put together 2 pretty decent rounds, a -11 and a -10. However, the second round I found a way to dig myself a big hole with not one, but 2 triple boggy 7's on the front 9. As I made my way around this course I came to realize, most of the holes are reasonably easy to birdie (with low winds). however they also proved very easy to end up with a big number on the score card. Hole 1 was a plugged bunker shot, which was followed by finding the water with the second stroke... could have easily been a birdie. The other was hole 9, where a good drive was followed by what i thought was a well struck long iron. to my surprise it somehow died into the bank of the lower tier and rolled back to the front of the green. after two unsuccessful putt attempts to get back up to the top, the only option was to putt off the green and flop back up. Should have been and easy par. I was able to battle back to even with 7 birdies on the card, but i just hope two holes wont come back to bite me.
Good luck to everyone still to finish.

I feel for you. I have long lobbied the ability to chip/flop on the greens when a putter won't get there or there is a hill so high that you can do nothing but do as you did, putt off the green and flop. It irritates me to no end that you can't use a legal golf shot on a putting green. You did well, you aren't in the rough, but because the game has a limit on how far you can pull back that putter, how far the ball will go AND that some creators aren't smart enough to realize and test this as a possibility, combined with the admin here overreacting with an all or nothing rule that penalizes people in ways it was never intended, we are left to "suck it up". The explanation given is "well course management you shouldn't be there". It is a weak argument as not all of us can be elite golfers and hit the ball where we want every time and to simply say, "whoops you are in a position you can't get to the pin cause of some mega hill, you will have to putt off the green and chip up." is asinine. The whole point of the rule was to prevent golfers from using a chipping club to avoid severely breaking putts. It was being abused and the people that support the rule would say, "no pro golfer would ever chip in that situation." Sadly they conveniently disregard that "no pro golfer would ever putt intentionally off the green so they could chip/flop". That is even more unrealistic than chipping on the green. When you can see video of Phil Mickleson and others chipping on greens all over the place, the one thing you will NOT see is a video of a golfer putting off the green to chip. It is a rule that was put in to solve something with little to no regard of the unintended consequence and sadly you got screwed cause of it.

So will the teams be selected as the top 6 as team one and the bottom 6 team two? This gives you a strong team and a weak team. Or you can make two teams where you take the top person put them on team 1 and the second team 2. Then go down the list adding 3rd person to team 1 and fourth to team 2. This gives you more balanced teams.
Just curious.

The teams will be fairly balanced. All the top players will not be on the same team.

Remembered today that I had signed up for this. Speed golfed my rounds totally unprepared and paid the price. But hey, maybe I'll slide onto a team and pick it up down the road.
63-69-72-71 for a -12
