I blew up my tournament (-13 to a -5) in the last two rounds this week because the winds were changing direction and speed too fast. Such as 6 mph from the right to 11 from the left in 15 seconds and so on. This shook me and I got out of my game and upset. Do you wait for the winds to calm down before continuing? Or shoot straight at the target and hope you are close enough to recover?

I haven't seen this happen in tournament play since the last wind update many months ago. I don't think the game allows these kinds of gusts in tournament play. Do you have video?

It happens.
I'm one that needs quiet long to "concentrate" after aiming/choosing club and the execution of the stroke. So after I did that, I start to look at my controller, and after 3-4 seconds I release. It happens from time to time that the wind (direction) is changing in those few seconds.
It's quiet frustrating sometimes. So I try now to make a final glance at the wind before I hit.

He's saying it goes from 6 to the right, to double digits 180 degrees in the opposite direction. I play every week and I've not seen anything close to that since the latest wind patch. I'm skeptical, and I'd need to see a video to believe anything resembling that is happening. Who is gonna post one?

I have never seen it change 180 degrees unless the wind was 3 mph or less.
The change of 10 mph was a couple holes apart.
That is just my experience.
But I have seen a change within one shot of 60 degrees (1/6 of a circle) max and 3 mph or so max when the wind is above 4-5 mph.

I've seen it fluctuate a few MPH and maybe 30 degrees or so in direction. I play A LOT, and pay careful attention to the wind as does everyone trying to compete on my tour. The OP seems wildly exaggerated, but if anyone can show otherwise I'd still love to see it.

The game should lock the wind in for ten seconds after it detects a player has set up his shot. Many times I've played a shot only to notice (too late!) the wind has changed. I look at the wind last of all but sometimes it's a race to play the shot before it changes.

I think it should change during the shots as well. It is supposed to simulate wind - right? It's called wind...

I've seen it fluctuate a few MPH and maybe 30 degrees or so in direction. That's what I was talking about. Sorry if my posting was misleading. Still, even those slight changes can have quiet some influence on the result of your shot. But I do also agree with mcbogga... it's wind, and one could still wait a few more seconds or double-check before release.

I take a break for a second. Maybe take a wiz or grab a drink or something. I found that the gusts only happen like once.

Its changed noticeably imo.
Sometimes it can change on the back swing which is fine obviously but before as far as i know it didnt. Maybe i just didn't notice or maybe its because i need more time now.

It`s just one of those things that also happen in real life golf that`s why this game is so difficult (just like real golf) one moment it`s 5mph with in a matter of you hitting the ball it`s rose to 8mph you just have to learn to play with it, some time`s it works for you some times against you.

I definitely feel frustrated when something like this happens... I set up a shot with a 12 MPH wind pointing to 7 o'clock. By the time I made all my pre-shot adjustments, the wind has changed to 10 MPH pointing at 5 o'clock. Now, I'm about 20 feet right and 4 yards longer than I expected to be. The ball maybe catches a downslope on the green and next thing you know, I'm hitting from 14 yards out.
I've seen winds die down a few MPH over the course of a minute - maybe from 9 MPH to 5 MPH, but for long iron approaches into firm greens, that's a 10-yard difference.
But like Joe said above me, this type of thing happens in real golf and over the course of 72 holes, it probably affects players equally - if not in exactly the same manner. I've learned to take a second look once I've set up. If the wind has changed significantly, then I'll wait for it go head back the other way a bit or see if it stays at the new strength/direction. I find that, usually the wind will settle into something more consistent if I wait a little bit.

Yes,the wind obviously changes in real golf but the golfer feels and hears it. This is a game.
I dislike setting up a shot only to have to adjust, then adjust again,as the wind changes. Then find a change as the shot is taken - too late to adjust.

Does the wind IRL blow at a constant pace and direction? Can't imagine why it would here, and I actually think it does a nice job approximating actual wind...even without the gusts and swirls we see outside, which wold male thinges that much more difficult. Man, even Tin Cup had wind change while the ball was in the air.
