Just felt like offering a little bit of advice to up and coming designers. Unfortunately I'm still away from my Xbox and can't act on it myself, but I'd like to encourage you all to take some risks and try something new and exciting in your courses. If it doesn't work, you can always replace it.
My logic for this is that it's easier to tone down a wacky hole and make it into something more routine than it is to take a boring hole and jazz it up, so aim high and try something different.
It's an old example because I haven't played in months, but look at Mulligans Cove with its caves. That's something memorable and unique.
It doesn't have to be such a far out idea either - make a hole with bigger elevation changes, or an environment a little out of the ordinary like Hoodoo Hills. It's a video game after all, and we have to exaggerate some characteristics to stand out. But most of all, have fun coming up with ideas and working out how to implement them!

Here's one for you. Don't know how well it will work, but I'm currently working on a coastal course(s) where some of the holes will alter as the tide rises and falls.
Like I say, I don't know how well it'll work but we'll see in a month or 2

I was thinking this last night. clv said something in his blog about driving in between 2 bunkers each hole gets a little bit boring. That's pretty much what i usually do... so
He made me think and i experimented a little with my latest course...Its great what you can do with the soft brushes raising land here and there can make such a difference to the look and playability of a hole.

A couple of screen grabs to give an idea of where I'm coming from, very early days though. And if anyone wants a little play on what's been made so far (5 holes iirc), you're more than welcome. I published it a week or so ago, before I found out how to test with wind offline. It's still very rough, not much sculpting etc has been done and I haven't decided fully on the theme yet. It's called low tide and is like the bottom screen.
