Scottsdale inspired, but very fictional straight from the imagination. Here is the first hole, with step by step photos of the progress, 15 images in all, from start till finish. Laying down the foundation: ----- filling in the green: ---- filling in the fairway: ---- filling in the bunkers: ---- filling in the light rough: some more tough may be needed here, this was the toughest texture fill of them all with the process i used. ---- filling in the heavy rough + some extra textures and planting beyond the hole: ---- 99% completed hole (baring any very minor tweaks to smooth thing out that may need it): ---- I love the desert theme, now its even better with the new texture options, all it needs to be the very best theme we have is an overhaul on the vegetation, mainly grasses, bushes and trees are pretty good. I will be continuing these steps for each hole, though will only be posting the near finished holes when they are nearly done, just wanted to showcase the process I will be using for these course, the same process I have used on my last few courses. Comments and Suggestions always welcome, thanks.

Looks absolutely gorgeous! As limited as the new tools are, the texture changes just look lights out in most of these settings. Of course you need a talented designer too ;-)

Looks great. Two nice looking courses on the go. Glad to see you are back in full force. I still have to try that technique of yours. Looks time consuming!

I really love the frame-by-frames! I've played about 20-30 courses in Scottsdale, and it looks pretty good. I'm not sure about the red oasis-y areas where you planted along the right side...nothing that color really exists in Scottsdale. Maybe it's the pictures and your course is more brown than red, but looks too red to be real. Here's two images from my phone- This is from Greyhawk Talon course where they played the old Accenture Match Play. I like this picture because that was how close I came to a hole-in-one on that par3 . See the desert transition area color/contrast. This is how all the desert-lined Scottsdale courses look. Had a few deer running across the fairway in front of us...

Thanks dale, I'm using the brownest shade of mulch I can, we could use more color options, a slider would be great

Yeah, that's what I figured. I cycled through them all in the past and there isn't a good range of options in the browns and reds. I wanted to try to start a Sedona Red golf course, but none of the colors come close to matching it.

One question taste, about the first cut, you lay it looking for the most accurate brush depending on the contour of the fairway, by pieces, or you draw it depending on the brushes you've used to lay the fairways?

I'll use a larger piece of I can get away with it, but mostly just using smaller roundish shapes trying to keep a straight line, it's time consuming for sure
