What does a (slightly) jagged line do to the path the ball follows? I only ask because I like to think I swing pretty straight (to my eyes it's only miniscule jaggedness), but my ball rarely threatens the target.
Now if this has little part to play, then it's my bad for not being good enough in reading the wind / slope factors etc, but when I watch better players' streams, I think my line is straighter but their shots finish in must better positions than mine,(or are they intentionally swinging a hair crooked to offset above factors?) I'm not talking a massive distance off line, but enough to be the wrong side of the pin 90% of the time. LoL

I'm not talking a massive distance off line, but enough to be the wrong side of the pin 90% of the time. LoL This is an interesting point. I've played TGC endlessly since purchase, but I've never been able to get my head round this shot window. I have been assuming that if the shot window shows a line moving from bottom centre to top right, then this actually indicates the direction your ball should travel. But this has not always been the case, as I've seen the ball travel in the opposite direction, but then other factors could have been effecting the ball. Because of the way I hold my controller, I tend to hit shots naturally from left to right, so I try to plan this anomaly into my shot set-up. So for instance, if I have a 9 mph wind blowing from right to left, the normal set-up for this would be to move your marker approximately 14 clicks to your right. But I would only move my marker around 9 clicks, because I naturally hit into the wind anyway. If the wind was blowing 9 mph from left to right, then I would probably have to move my marker around 18 clicks into the wind to compensate for my natural slice. It took me a long time to understand why the ball seem to move more from left to right, than it did from right to left in similar winds. This doesn't mean I land the ball next to the pin every time - far from it, as I don't hit the ball the same every time. You can only plan into your shots what you do the most, so hopefully the majority of the time you will be right. It would be nice if someone could explain the shot window in detail, as I'm sure their are others like myself and the champ above who stare at this, and just assume what it does. For anyone who purchased the game as a hard copy may have instructions on this, but as a download you don't.

Heading to the range. Missed cut coming. -18 under doesn't get the job done on the PGA when the course isn't tough.

My understanding is some jaggedness affects the shot. That has been my experience. I have had no big surprises on where a ball goes not understandable based on jagged line, wind, current slope of lie, etc. There is a setting in the game to adjust the relationship between hook/slice and direction of jagged lines. I think the options are default (maybe normal) and inverted. If you are seeing you miss in the cone to the right and the ball goes left that could be situation. In real life if your swing plane is sliding through the ball inside out (or to the right visually in the cone if you are RH), the ball will go more left due to the spin imparted. So jagged lines left ball goes right (or vice versa) kind of makes sense.

But it would also start slightly more to the right which is not in the game.
I like that they have the OPTION of inverting for sure. Some people use path as the mental model, some people like me use face... Both can be happy since the option is there.

Went to the range and with the 1mph wind coming at me from 10:30 (North East), I discovered I would still miss the flag a couple of feet left. So it would appear I have a slight pull (much like my real swing). Buoyed with this info I headed to the course to put this theory to the test..... Happy that my swing isn't the reason I don't "knock it stiff", It's because I can't read the wind correctly. Haha
