I may have been reading greens on approaches incorrectly since I started playing. The green grid...how big is each square? My assumption was 3 ft x 3ft (or 1 yard boxes). Is that correct? If not, I've been planning my shots incorrectly all along.
Thanks for the help!

I suspect you might have been reading them slightly wrong, yes.
It's to my understanding that each box is 1 meter. Slightly more than your 3 inches. Would probably not affect your approaches too much on short clubs, but long irons towards firm greens...

Wow...how about that. Thanks for the response. My scoring average should go down five strokes per round....but it won't since I still can't putt

Sometimes being a metric man helps

HB golfer is a giant based on this. Think about is next time you have a six foot putt.

Not a dumb question, it may explain when I land an approach exactly where I want (rarely), the carry yardage is off with the number I thought it would be!!!! Btw, I'm a good putter. I have to be with my poor approach play. Haha

Definitely not a dumb question, I have been using 1 yard, must be close enough anyways. I likely still will as well.

If you have your game settings set to imperial, then the grid should be 1 yard sq. That's what I was led to believe.

Fairly sure the grid stays 1 meter regardless of Imperial or metric settings.
The only proof I have of this is when designing the grid amount stays the same even if I switch to imperial.

1.1 to 1 is pretty negligible. For every 10 meters it is 11 yards.

1.1 to 1 is pretty negligible. For every 10 meters it is 11 yards. I agree - it really doesn't make that much of a difference. You still need to hit the shots and make the putts. I tend to go a little longer (that's what she said) on my approaches because I always fear rolling off the front of the green. I like to attack the hole (that's what she said) more than play it smart. It's just really rare if any of my planning works out and I score (that's what she said).
