Just been reading the about true sim golf tour someone posted players are scoring well without the aids, all i can say is load of bull how on earth can you tell how strong the wind is which direction it`s blowing, from anywhere 100 yrd`s out from the green it would be almost impossible to get anywhere near the flag also this is not anything like real golf, real golf you stand out there in the wind you feel it and you see it, am i right in saying you will not have the grid on to if so forget about birdie`s even forget about your par`s. i will look forward to seeing the score`s should be a good laugh, or will i be sitting here totally amazed i doubt it, if the latter it will confirm my thought`s all along (TITAN)

If you hit the pause button, you can see the flag and how much it is moving around to guess how strong the wind is.

I guess i use a titan since ive scored tst rounds in the -20s many times. I dont look at the arrow for wind direction. I dont look at the flag to estimate wind strength within a few mph. I dont study a no grids putt my using multiple camera angles. I dont look at the overhead map and carefully plot out where the proper place to aim is. I just get a magic controller and press a button and presto! insta birdies
Nope. I must be using a titan. Mine must be broken because i get maybe 2 straight line swing per round.
Seriously man, people are that good. Many are better than i am at tst, i was just giving you some things that helppme when i play true sim.

rubbish no one can tell from that flag how strong it is, even before you reach the green you've got to hit the fairway at least once every hole, if you play in this please send me your score i would be interested to see them

Sorry Joe you clearly haven't got a clue what you're talking about. I can't disagree. He is a newbie to this game. You can practice the course as well to geta feel for the layout and greens. Once you have an idea on the winds it's not a big deal. You can also play with a ghost ball during tournaments to see as well.

I'm a below average player in regards to this site. CC-D. I played a few tournaments of the True Sim. It is quite do able. I'll have to disagree with the premise of the OP.
You get to play with one ghost, turn based, so that can give you a pretty good read on conditions. Pick a good player and just follow him so to speak. I managed one or two rounds under par if I remember, -2 to -4'ish. Not great but I was surprised I did that good when I first went into it.
Hitting fairways even without a ghost is quite easy actually, they pick courses that are more suited for no aids and I found it easy to hit fairways. I could hit semi decent approach shots. What killed me mostly were greens, yet I could still put a 20-30 foot putt to within tap in range.
I quit with the TST because
1-took too long to play a round, you do have to spend a lot of time with the different camera angles on the greens to get a good read 2-I was never making the cut, seemed like a waste of time to play 1.5 hours per round only to not make the cut. 3-I need to spend more time improving my tournament play in the regular tournaments, which means practicing upcoming courses a lot to learn their in's and outs. True sim was taking more time away from that than I wanted.
I actually loved the True Sim when I did it, and think its a great idea, but for a hack like me its not worth the time. Your competing against the elite in this game and there is no way I can keep up to that.

To me, Tsim puts everything you have learned about this wonderful game to full use. Add in full concentration and attention to every rotation of the ball from strike to stop and better results can be obtained. Very satisfying when done successfully.

Have a look at rounds 3 and 4 of this weeks tourney. Quite happy with the last round on a tricky set up.
All it takes is some black magic.
Wind in real golf is far more unpredictable than in game.
Swing execution is trivial in this game for experienced players. What True Sim does is introducing the need to hit the ball even closer as putting is harder and also promotes solid golf thinking in terms of percentage plays since there is a measure of uncertainty.
