Just wondering, when it comes to greens, would you prefer to have red on to show the tiers and slopes and make the green look and play much better and have a bit of challenge or for the red to be taken out and be more flat with a bit of slope if you land in the wrong place and overall be much easier? This is something ive been wondering about since ive also been working on Baltusrol. I have all 18 holes of the lower course mapped out and all 18 of the upper course as well mapped out as well. The upper has been sculpted to 75%, the levels of the holes, fairways and water have been shaped with just the greens and bunkers to be sculpted and the trees to be added. On the Lower course i have sculpted 1-5. The reason i asked earlier about the red slopes is that the descriptions i have seem to lean towards some red, fast sloping greens, tiers etc. Hope you can let me know what kind of green you prefer to play and see. Thanks.

I'm at sculpting half of the first hole. I'm about 100h from completion at this point probably. So I hope yours is good...

From what I remember of the sculpting, yes i would agree about that time, i hope its good too.

I gave it a go. I have no clue how to design courses, nor do I remember the course from 2005 other than Phil won and that it ends with two par 5s. Had low winds and shot a bogey free -10.

If hit right, you can score nice, if offline, you will be punished, -10 is good, i only had 10mph or higher when i tried with wind

Alright - finally getting some progress on my try. Beta of holes 1-3 up for your feedback.
"BR 3h test" is the name. Not going to be perfect finish, but I believe holes should be pretty close so far. Need feedback.
Best enjoyed with training wheels off...
Baltusrol is going to be really hard to set up to provide any challenge. Tricking it up will just lead to a chip-fest as there are no collection areas on the course. It's a dilemma.

Didn't see much break in the 4 holes you had nor in the setup phoenixjay had. Went -3 in 4 holes with a missed 7 footer on the other hole I parred.

Thanks for the feedback, Bob.
Jay's one has plenty of undulation I think?
I don't have any green maps so hard to get them spot on. Going from descriptions and pictures. However - one of the things debated about Baltusrol is how Tilly's greens have been subdued multiple times, not even being that wild to begin with. It's the biggest issue the "purists" have with the course. It's a course with more subtle breaks. All three greens I made has yellow in them. Nr 2 a shot hit to center green will move a lot to the right. If I turned it up any more it would all be yellow.
I'm making this with no aids in mind first and foremost. An example is the pin on 3 which is a gimme if you know the wind but with some uncertainty you have to pick risking ending up on wrong side of the ridge by taking the pin on or taking a longer straightish uphill putt. That's the Idea anyway. On one you will end up with a 15feet+ putt that is straightish but not straight and the green crowns where the pin is so its a hard read without grid.
There will be a firm version as well - if I ever get it done...

Man, nr 4 took some time. But since its the signature hole I guess it's worth it. Undulating green with water and intricate bunkering.... Found a nice little pin placement top left that wont be easy to get to.
