Week 23: Pelikila Golf Club

Welcome to Week 23 of the Speed Golf.

This week we will be playing Pelikila Golf Club, by friendBOMBER . This fantastic exotic course was a finalist in the HB design competition, and deserves its place in the speed golf course list for this season. I hope you enjoy it!

I know at least a couple of people who had times that weren't recorded this week, I will get onto HB and hopefully that will be fixed in the new year.
Some plots don't look as good as normal, some of the packages I use had an update so I will have to rewrite a bit of my plotting code.

First week I'll end up an "incomplete". Hate to say it, but I'm starting to "lose the love" for Speed Golf. For me it was much more fun whacking the ball around quickly without looking at what's ahead, and worrying about OBs etc. I'm sure the courses over the past 3 or 4 weeks are great in normal play, but when it starts P'ing me off when playing Speed Golf, then IMO it's no good and no fun.

Sorry! Just my opinion, but it ain't gonna help to attract more players.

I like to set realistic goals for myself in these evens, since I'm not good enough to ever expect to win.


My goal for week 24 is not to rage quit.

Teed up with Doyley, Canuck, and MVS's ghost. I knew their scores were in the -2 to -4 range ahead of time, but I couldn't believe it when I was on the 17th tee and MVS was sitting at -8. That was a tough course with challenging winds and elevation changes to hit a score like that on speed golf! He must have hit some water on the last hole to have come back down to earth with a -4.

So I'm pretty proud of my -4!

I think that I shot -8 in the end, not sure?

I was flying along but found the bunker on 12. I landed in on the fly but got a reasonable lie for a change which forced me into going for it. I came up short and went OB and made double, that put paid to any chance of a win this week. I have to go very low to stand a chance as my times are always way behind the top guys.

I thought that the course was a great choice as you had to take a few risks and were never totally sure of the outcome when playing so quickly.

Had a really disappointing round of 69 (-3) in the late 15mins. Didn't ever feel right at this course for some reason.

From the rules:

Your time is now recorded between the beginning and end of the round.

The way I understand it, it means everything including load time between holes, the show of leaderboard between holes, fly by's etc. adds to the time, correct? If so, Is there a way to speed up time from balls goes into hole till next tee is ready?

Is there a problem with the HB servers? It seems like I'm playing lots of tours, but having to replay them atm.

I played this tourney in -3/-4 in approx 19:00.
