Week 21: Horned Viper GC

Welcome to Week 21 of the Speed Golf.

This week we will be playing Horned Viper GC, by boomboom . A very nicely crafted Delta themed course is the course that speed golfers get to enjoy this week. As pros, we are fully fit, motivated and raring to go, hence why we will be playing from the gold tees!

You can find the challenge under Tours, named "speed-golf-w21".

This week's hardest holes graph was interesting, with hole 9 having a perfect 100% GIR, compared to the par 4 twelth, where nobody managed to get it on the green in two.

This course is a bit tougher for speed golf, as it has max speed greens. The ball might take a little bit more time to stop on the green, so times might be a bit slower than normal.

Horrible course IMO - I don't think courses like this are going to attract more players to speed golf, the opposite in fact.

I need to start reading these threads!

I looked for the course, didn't realise that there was more than one version?

I have been practising the cauldron version, restarting it many times to try and work out how it would be possible to play in speed golf without breaking something!  

I thought the course was great, but a bit tough for speed golf. I'll have a practice on the gold tee version to see what that is like, then play my round.

Just finished my round, shot -11.

It was weird, I started out with 8 straight birdies, then I missed my next birdie putt and the wheels just seem to fall off. I couldn't make anything after that. I'm convinced that my putt on 16 went straight over the hole at no pace? as though the hole wasn't there. I didn't have time to replay it as I was trying to hurry

I had a nice bonus on 17 where I holed out from 150, but then I missed a simple 8 footer on the last, where I should have taken a little more time.

As usual I would have needed a few more birdies to be competitive as I can't play as quick as most.

Superb course, I really like it. I am going to try to tame the cauldron

Had comfortably my worst Speed round in this week's event, and after last week's glitch-tastic disaster, that's quite a feat! I know this might sound stupid, but I wonder sometimes whether I'm playing TOO fast ie. I will hit the ball so quickly I don't even realise there's an ocean in front of the green - that kind of thing.

I might experiment with focussing on the score first and trying to slow the pace a little without making speed the priority, rather than putting myself in ridiculous situations and wasting time that way. Probably should've figured this out sooner, but hey-ho....

Played my first round of speed golf this week. I think this format suits my game as I usually play quick. I think it would be more enjoyable on softer greens, but I enjoyed it. Misses some putts that should have dropped, but kept it under par at least, at -1. I will come back week to week and try to improve.

Alright, a day and a bit left for this week's speed golf. I played with Keith on Sunday (you can find my round on my twitch channel), put up a decent round but might be a little slow to be good enough for the win.

If I get some time this evening I'll code up a leaderboard, everyone who finishes (in a reasonable time) will score a point, and the top 20 will score bonus points.

I've got the format for it all sorted, just need to code it all.

Thanks chaos. Didn't expect to win this one.

Maybe I hit it tight on the right holes this time. Sometimes better off missing the green on the tough holes. Hitting a quick flop shot and tapping in rather then watching ur ball roll out to 25+ ft and then have to hit a long putt u can't make anyways. Also, aces help!
