The Ratel at Widow's Cross

This will be one of the hardest golf courses at TGCTours. Even the name is frightening. The ratel (or honey badger) is perhaps the most vicious animal in the world; it has been known to kill lions and destroy beehives; it will attack anything. It's skin is impenetrable and its teeth are razor sharp; you don't want to be bitten by one... just as you don't want to be bitten by this course. Very few flat lies; big, steep sloping greens; deep bunkers; blind shots; no light rough. Missing the fairway or green will not be forgiving. Here are a few photos. I will update as construction progresses.

One feature of this course will be visual intimidation. These are features of the course that exist to unnerve the player or make them think hard about their shot.

I killed a honey badger once. It was in Far Cry 4. Feisty little bugger though.

I want to challenge the golfer in as many ways as I can: firm and fast surfaces combined with no light rough means that shots have to be executed with precision. The golfer also has to face the challenge of decision making - split fairways, risk/reward holes, conservative vs aggressive play. Many shots will be played from sidehill lies, so this must also be accounted for - otherwise it will cost some strokes.

There will be 5 versions of the course: 4 tour and 1 "guests". Each will have a different pin/tee combo.

GNCD keeps freezing. I shall persevere.

I have playtested the guests setup under tour conditions and scored -4. With a few tweaks and added planting (provided the GNCD cooperates), this should be ready to go shortly.
