www.sercc.com/PGA_Tour_Climatology_Data_Values.pdfThis spreadsheet shows the PGA Tour 2013-14 season average tournament wind speeds. The two calmest tournaments were 5.1mph - Humana Challenge which played to a desert theme (PGA West) 6.1mph - Phoenix Open which also played to a desert theme (TPC Scottsdale) The two windiest were 13.2mph - Tournament of Champions which was hosted by a tropical theme (Kapalua) 13.0mph Crown Plaza Countryside/Rural theme? (Colonial) At 12.2mph were two other Tropical tournaments Honda Classic and the WGC Cadillac showing that Tropical should generally have higher winds In comparision the Web Tourney this week which was set in the Autumn theme averaged just 7.6mph. The winds during tournaments are currently too low which is one of many reasons why scores are so low. The autumn theme, along with Links/Highland should probably have 13mph+ average winds going off this chart with Countryside/Rural ranging from 8-12mph whilst desert should barely have any wind at all ranging from something like 4-6mph. Anyway, I'll try to shut up about it all now. Duke, can you manually set the wind level (or interval) for each round when you set a tournament for TGCTOURS or is that chosen at random by TGC?

It's random by TGG and its all a bit mish-mashup aswell. For instance, that web tourney that averaged 7.6mph was actually between 3-14mph if I recall so it was a calm day round at times but also a tad windy at times. Most rounds are like this now and I'm not a fan as each round feels similar. Personally, and I know I'm about the only one who thinks this but I feel the variation should be closer. So increments of about 5mph would be good.
1-5mph 3-7mph 5-9mph 7-11mph 10-14mph 4-8mph 14-18mph 9-13mph
You get the idea. But people seem to like how it is now it seems. I guess because it's easier to not play in constant wind. Either way, if the current system stays it's at least 2mph lower than real life average. This may not seem like a lot but that's 2mph more wind per shot and that matters more than you'd think.

Look at the PGA tournament in real life. Wind at 1pm and 4pm...
Friday: 18mph - 17mph Saturday: 11mph - 6mph Sunday: 14mph - 13mph
We don't get this currently. We get 3mph - 15mph averaging at 7mph or if you're playing Highlands or Links you may get 4mph - 20mph averaging 10mph. And people moan the game is too easy but maybe if we just had windy rounds from time to time scores would be higher? Waaaah :-'(

Went on a golf trip to Denmark once. Remember coming up short with a 3W on a 130yds downhill par three... Ball came down backwards....

Bet that 600+ yard par 5 will be makeable in 2 on the turn though. Swings and roundabouts.

And I tend to agree with you going up to 20-23 mph in my personal taste. Yet a round like now with general breeze and some heavier wind spells or areas of the course does have it's charm as well. Which ever way knodging it up to RL average would be nice.
