I decided I'd give it a go. And that's what ?'m involved now. I picked the delta theme, looking for a course with a lot of water, and very few elevation changes, a mainly flat course.
This will be a long course to build, because i'm laying the holes in a completely flat land plot, and once they are laid, I will start with all the elevation work, which may be a kick in my ass. But I think the result may be very interesting. Or so I hope. I will keep you up to date as I advance. By now I've laid already four holes, which obviously are flat, so they don't say too much.
One first conclussion. I think there will be no first cut, so don't miss track of the short grass
I have the 18 fairways & greens laid out. Narrow fairways, and interesting greens. Everything is flat, I have touched nothing of terrain, Lots of work to do, but advancing firmly
Maybe it will take me longer than expected. I'm studying the chances of releasing not a golf course, but a golf club, maybe a couple of 18's (the championship course - in the pic), a "public" course, maybe a par 3 and why not, a pitch & putt. But by now only studying the possibilities
In the beginning, I had chosen Delta theme, but I'm loving more the tropical course.
The project is building a 36 holes club with a championship course and a shorter "resort" course.
After laying the essence of the holes, I've started with the 1st hole in the Championship course, a dogleg rigth short par 4. With OB and water to the left and behind the green.
The tee shot is not very challenging. I'd suggest 3w, despite the two bunkers left and right:
If you miss short to the right you will face a blind shot to an slightly elevated green, with ob back and left, and a dangerous runoff to the right:
As a championship course, the settings for fairway and green probably will be hard, and there will be no first cut, so be careful with missing the fairways guys.
OldManGaming606: Some of us struggling putting on greens regardless of how slow or fast the greens are.

deathstar: Indeed, nothing worse than slow greens and that includes everything under 160

meunier33: 15th hole at Dancing Nun has an error. The light rough above the water hazard is marked as part of the hazard instead of land.

sroel908: And as someone who's rangered/scheduled hundreds of courses, trying out a wide range of conditions, I can say with certainty that green speeds do have an impact and definitely matter.

sroel908: Green firmness is more about how the ball interacts with the putting surface when you hit an approach into it. A soft green is more receptive, and will allow more backspin than a firm one. A firm green will have less bite and more rollout.

meunier33: I have seen 135 greens that putt like they are 170. Therefore, we can conclude that green speed does not matter.

meunier33: Why isn't there a green firmness meter on the score bug? Green firmness matters much more than green speed.

meunier33: I still play this game like it was the game before 2K21. Up until this month I have never tried to change anything about how I play the game. It has made me worse trying to adapt also.

OldManGaming606: The biggest swing adjustment and best for competitive golf IMO, was 2k21 and addition of tempo.

Art Vandelay: each time the game has been issued (TGC, TGC2, TGC19, etc) the game play changes. Some more than others. You have to adapt. Or go away, like some have.

meunier33: EG the best swing used to be hard and low and not a high swing like it is now.
