Week 18: The Shakespeare

Welcome to Week 18 of the Speed Golf.

This week we will be playing The Shakespeare, Stratford-Upon-Avon Hotel & Resort, England, by Biggins. One of the classic courses in TGC, this was one of the benchmarks for not just countryside, but all themed courses. Low scores can be had here, but you can you achieve them under the pressure of speed golf?

You can find the challenge under Tours, named "speed-golf-w18".

This week we had 46 entries, of which 37 completed the challenge.
Platform race: PC - 16; XB1 - 15; PS4 - 7. Looks like some PS4 players can't handle the heat! Make sure you get them to play, they need to perform for their platform!

Awesome choice of course. An absolute classic but I bet loads of people haven't even seen it before. Should have been on the course of the year list if not topping it... in for a treat this week

-10 in 16:10 approx. I missed several opportunities, but that was my quickest time thus far. Hopefully a top 15 or better.

Well i shot -9 in 12:47 ish. I see people have already put up way better numbers than -9 so i will probably be no where near come results time.

Note: This round had a double bogey in it.

Felt like I played pretty quick and fired up a 15-under so should be up in the top 10 or so - now that I don't have to take 5 swings to get a shot off I feel like I can compete here again

Do you use preview on any shots iChaoz?
I only preview tee shots and I play every other shot almost instantly. I got -9 too but in 14:50ish. The only way I feel I could go quicker would be to just hit my drives straight off. I just feel like I would hit trouble too often. Do you know the courses before you play them?

I started with a bogey but then went on a really good streak. I was around -8 after 9 but couldn't continue the good form.

I'm sure chaos has steamed the last few times he's played speed golf, should check out his twitch archive.

He somehow manages to cut a second off every shot compared to us mortals, which ends up being at least a minute per round.

This week ends in a few hours, so make sure you've played already!

Man I love this course one of my all time favs, a really good oldie, what's happened to old Biggins anyhow? Think I did ok -10 in around 20 mins. It's not the hardest course In the game so I think the scores will be very low.

I've tried to watch your recorded stream on Twitch but I can't get it to play here. I might start playing a practice round but I don't think it would help much.

I can also seem to do the calculations very quickly in my head which may help but not everyone can do it

Yeah, I can do that too and I seem to be able to estimate correction for winds quickly without using my normal 'click' method. Quite often my putting is better when playing quickly!!!

Are there any other changes you use to technique? Do you still use flop shots etc?

I use flop shots a lot in speed golf but not a lot in normal golf. Only reason i use flop shots is because i seem to execute them quicker while being more accurate.

I have judged how far back to pull the club without having to use more or less loft. Have been so used to it since the start of this game.
