bbhardbeta3 Published 3 hole teaser.
It's time I built the hard course that presents the challenge of this game. Study time is over. Lets rock this town.
Not for the golfing squeamish. Lots of risk, not much reward. If you like earning birdie and saving par, if you like planning your shots, if you like course management, give it a shot and comment below.
Every slider is maxed. Pin vicinity is flat, greens are sloped, lots of red and yellow and some might consider 15 feet close to the pin. Only 1 bunker per hole. Difficulty comes from tee shot and likely saving par.
I just shot even par in 15 MPH wind, no GIR though. I do not need to hear it's to hard. 3 birdies can be had, but it will be really hard and you will need really good play.

5 holes down now. Next beta at 6.
As you can see, I'm also going for fair, with each green having wide fringe, some fairway, then light rough before you catch the heavy stuff. With a magnificently executed and extremely well planned tee shot, all approaches could be wedge to 9 iron depending on the wind. The wind will murder your chance at birdie making par a good safe play. Safe tee shots have also been planned for the timid and in case it gets breezy, but par will be a good score afterwards.

Would caution you using firm/fast setup with smaller greens. The real challenge will be to do similar to Cuyahoga - medium firm, fast greens and still hard to par. Take the suggestions of tucked pins with runoff fairway (so rough doesn't collect balls that miss). Much better chance of getting a tour slot in those conditions. With firm fast we still want to be able to hold greens - so your 0 GIR is a big red flag at this point

Will do for beta 6, TY for the feedback. I had 15 wind when I played my 3, no chance in those conditions. The one green you see there in the last picture is only 120 yard par 3. But it has only a12 foot safe circle to land or run off the green you go, through a fairway runoff leaving a 13 yard chip from the heavy stuff, with another runoff after the pin going back. Only reasonable option is partial power flop back. I think that shot is pretty hard for lots of players. I will give different conditions for each 3 beta I release. I hope I get some interested players to help with the feedback.

I'm a CC-D player and I just played the 3 holes for the first time, scored par on one hole and bogeyed the other two for +2. I didn't think it was outrageously difficult but I had to think about what shots to play. I think I could do better on my next attempt. I honestly think that PGA/Euro players wouldn't have too much to complain about if they were presented with 18 holes like this.

I still want to give out birdies opportunities, I just want it to be hard and require some hard decisions.
Changes:
Some new tees.
Green firmness slider has been toned down significantly. Added even more options and decisions off the tee, increased fairway runoffs, rerouted some fairways, added some bunkers, sculpting etc etc.....
A little planting here and there.
I will post some pics later.
Let me know what you think please.

See, Its to easy now dam dam dam........
Even increasing the length, jacking those sliders down makes the greens to soft. I don't want monster long, I don't want micro thin fairways. I hate hate hate thin fairways. I want 8 iron to wedge in after a well placed tee shot. This should allow the firm greens to still hold a good shot.
That's the problem with this beta, wedge in on medium firm greens is a turkey shoot.
The shorter but firm and fast was the difficulty I wanted.
Expect beta 9 to be shorter again but back to firm and fast, or firm and slower greens is a thought as well.

There seems to be little middle ground on that green firmness slider. I wish they would have it be more gradual. On one spot it accepts shots, on one it rockets off. That, of course is an exaggeration, but I think one gets what I mean. Keep at it, Boomer.

Could be a mistake or 2 in here so please consider it a beta or what it is.
Major design changes here, much more options and choices on almost every tee shot. Most greens received a re-work. It is back to firm and fast, but this time I'm hoping you will birdie most holes even with those settings. Consider it a learning process for all of us.
Its 3200 yards, not very pretty yet but getting there.
Feedback, was it hard, was it easy. Which hole did you birdie, which hole did you bogie, what worked, what did not.
Have fun, as always much appreciated.

I just played your beta and I thought it was very good. I think some people are going to say it's hard or even too hard. I played in winds of 8-12 mph and I shot -6. Now, I'm a better player, and I"m sure people like disturbed on PS4 will also shoot low. It's all about course management. I was hitting medium irons off some of the tees because that was the right choice. If you don't know what course management is, this course will eat you up and spit you out. I can't remember what holes I birdies, but I birdied 6 out 9. Number 9 is a beast of a par 5, but I did manage birdie there. The decision off the tee and the second shot determine if you do well, or end up with a double bogey. I like the challenging courses and the fact you have to think out each shot. Some may think this is just too hard for video game golf..I disagree. If I had any concerns right now, it would be how the course would play in windy conditions and winds from different directions. Also, I really liked the short par 3..it reminded me of a hole I used to play at one of my local courses many years ago. Anyway, I hope this helps. Oh, and good job allowing enough room for the ball to roll on the lightning greens!

Oh, about the wind directions..I don't think this would be a problem on any hole that I remember. I guess I meant that is something to keep in mind going forward.

Excellent feedback, I love it, keep it coming.
I figured the -6 was doable, I flattened the greens for this beta.
Been working on this 9 mostly now, green sculpting, added a few more green run-offs, some planting etc. Added a BoomBoom bunker as well on 6 that should not be in play. Did some more work on 7 and added another piece of fairway giving 4 options off the tee now.
Wind is always the great equalizer. If the hole is driver needed I ensure a 5 wood will reach the fairway in the designer, but it will lengthen some of those holes and take short iron out of your hands making the firm conditions a chore.
I plan on releasing this 9 beta again once its ready. The greens should be harder to putt. Missing the green wont be a short chip mostly it should be around the 12 yard range making the short game a premium. I'm hoping to make it a chore to save par, but keep birdie in the picture. So far I would say it's getting there.
