As some of you know, I teach high school math and science for a living. In my ninth grade math class, I found an excuse to bring some of my TGC knowledge into the classroom. To teach my ninth graders about scale factor and scale drawings, I am having them design a nine hole golf course and create an accurate scale drawing of them (I posted a couple pics of this a year ago). Some aren't that bad! A few of them have too many bunkers and ponds in landing zones though....consider the headwinds, children! When I did this last year, I based on of my holes from my Midnight Sun course (#5 I think) off an idea a student had. Here are some of this years projects. One kid even said he was going to design the back nine at home for fun (I'll call him Crazycanuck1985 Jr.) Pretty proud of them as quite a few had never stepped foot on a golf course before! And a couple of finished products!

I need to hire the kid that did Creek Side. That is unreal! And bless their hearts, even using metres.

Canuck, you should design Creek side for him and show him pics.. You would get the coolest teacher of the year award!

This is hilarious! You're abusing your students to get new ideas for your next course designs, aren't you? Cunning!

The only way I could see this being a viable product or classroom project would be, that you made them have to figure out how much seed would need to be use to plant all their fairways and greens.
LOL

They are done! Most turned out quite well. I have lots of inspiration now as my walls are plastered with nine hole golf courses!
