Is there any rule concerning distance loss when using Fade/Draw? From practising at the "Driving Range" (aka Swing Course) I learned that a full box costs me 5 yd (no matter which club), but when I add that in a "normal" round it often results in overshooting the target. I don't get the reason for that, so any hints are appreciated.

I'm finding distances in the designer don't match gameplay exactly. Makes it tough to get good unless you have an elephant memory in this game. Practice putting is the best as the putts are pretty long if you cant get close.

I have seen inconsistent results with Fade/Draw and distance loss. However, my experience has been that the shorter the club, the more likely it is to lose distance on a Fade/Draw.

It is just a guess here, but if you mess with loft while hitting a fade/draw, it really adds to the distance loss. No formula here, as it is feel for me. I sometimes miss quite badly, but sometimes I can get a good shot.

i used to use fade and draw but kept going short on the greens and missing altogether so thought i may aswell just move the golfer to each side unless there are trees in the way, its so much easier for me that way.

If you turn it back into the wind to straighten out the shot it will of course really affect the distance.

That's why I normally use draw/fade only with wind coming directly from the side.

Shorter irons most definitely lose more ground with fade draw. With the driver and woods, it only effects distance by two or three percent, even at a full box.
With the PW, I can lose ten yards on a full box draw.
Another time you can lose distance is when you have a gigantic downhill approach like say a 90 feet drop. By most of our calculations, we would subtract 30 yards. This always leads me short and so I compensate by adding an extra 25% so like 7.5 yards in this situation. I haven't seen the situation enough times to have the calculation down to an exact science so I'm sure the 25% figure isn't perfect, but it should be a good point to consider.

This is one reason I love this game...realism. If you play a fade or draw into the wind you always lose distance. Play either with the wind and you'll pick up a bit of distance. Now when it comes to judging just how much...this seems tricky at times. But like everything, it takes practice and memory...and one day I hope to figure it out like those at the top of the leaderboards!
